Temporary Speed Limits for Road Works
I would like to suggest adding functionality to Waze that supports temporary speed limits on road segments affected by road works. This would work similarly to the current "Closures" feature in the Waze Map Editor (WME).
Reason for Request:
This summer, we have received numerous reports from drivers through the mobile app, indicating incorrect speed limits displayed on roads under construction. Currently, setting temporary speed limits and later restoring the original limits after the road works are completed is a time-consuming, double effort for us.
A "Temporary Speed Limits for Road Works" feature would not only streamline the process of displaying accurate speed limits during road work but also allow us to retain the original speed limits without needing to manually restore them after the works are finished. This would improve efficiency and ensure accurate information is provided to drivers.
Proposed Workflow:
. In WME, introduce a "Road Works" option.

a. Users can select specific road segments affected by road works.
b. Set start date/time and end date/time like for Closures
. Once marked as "Road Works," these segments will display a temporary speed limit icon in the Waze mobile app, reflecting the adjusted speed limit during the construction period.

Was just discussing this with other editors as well. We all have construction speed limits. Majority do not ever go back and change a speed limit from construction zone limits.
The ability to tag segments affected with a start and end date to use a temporary speed limit and then revert at the end date would be huge. I was thinking along the lines of a RTC but with Speed limit options not actual closures. But whatever is easiest for Dev to build and place would help!
We fight with end users on the speed limits, some regions change them for construction a lot do not for construction. But if we had an ability to schedule/temporarily affect the speed limits would be a critical addition to WME/Waze.
Users could have a SLUR voice option for reporting.
