The solution to this is to add a "Language" option to the Street and City fields of a road and the Name field of a place. And allow to add more than one language to each primary address and alternate address of roads and names of places in Waze Map Editor. This data can then be used in Waze app to display road and place names in the user's preferred language. The existing Language setting inside Settings > General only changes the Waze UI language, not the rendered map road and place names, which is not ideal in many places of the world where places and roads have official addresses and names in more than one language.

I live in Thailand and all the places on the map are in the Thai language. Could you look at writing them in the language that the app is set in for different countries in the world. For example, if my app set to English could be places on the thailand map be written in English, thank you

We are in Greece.
Waze show all city/street names in Greek.
We did not find how to change it.
When using Google maps the names are also in English.
You should add this ability. -

Hi All.
Since this forum was recently opened, I would like to point out, at the beginning, a very important matter that I find shared between the localization community and the responsible for WME and the app in general.
While we are active and translating the app in real-time, we do not find sufficient support to represent and invest this effort in reality.
I have previously spoken about this matter, but I will repeat it in the hope that we will find someone who listens to us this time.app support for multilingualism in everything is not lacking, but what do we call it when the app is fully translated, but the map, street names, and others are in English? Isn’t this a clear deficiency in supporting multilingualism? How can a community translate the app but cannot make this translation appear on the app? Since there is only one option (one language), and we must consider the majority in the country we are in, we cannot rely on the original language of the country since visitors and English speakers are more numerous and must be considered! However, if we come to the people of the country, they cannot use the application in their language, and this is considered a deficiency even in the number of users, and I consider it a greater attraction factor for the user base.
Finally, many years have passed, and we talk about the matter and hear promises, but there is no new development in the matter. I believe it deserves to see the app compensating, if I may use the expression, as language speakers would like to see it, not to be half in one language and the other half in another.
Share your opinions with me, and I hope that action will be taken on this matter, as it has been overdue since around 2015.
thanks!

It's really essential! I have no idea how to identify my position and favorite locations nearby. Please implement it ASAP! -

Dear team, I live in Tel Aviv and I commute every day to work. You probably know how crazy the traffic is and how important is an app like Waze to chose the best path. In Israel street are wrote in Hebrew and for foreigners is barely impossible to use the app.

I would like to see Waze maps in English regardless of the current location. When traveling through non English speaking counries it's a headache to do map navigation. Voice guide is not always enough.

In this case, I replace the automatic translation with sufficiently good translation services for business https://www.translate.com/services/business-translation .It was created for business translations, so it has accurate results, so it takes more time, but the translation is really high-quality

The ability to set a language flag for city and streetnames and their alt-names. This enables the TTS voice to pronounce the names.

I'm in Taiwan right now, and you are completely right, it should be great if you can choose or have them both on your screen, and the voice tells it in taiwanese, and thats not the same name as there is on the sign in English.
In Maps is this the same problem, but it looks like Sygic does have the english names in the directions.

It is a must have feature

It would be fantastic if you could select a language of the map. I have arrived in Israel and I cannot read anything on the map as it is all in Hebrew.
So trying to navigate using Waze is impossible as I cannot even read the destination.
I had to revert to Google maps as they do display in English.
Can this feature please be added. -

I wish all the street directions and street names would show in my native language (English). I prefer the features of Waze, but I often use Sygic instead because I can understand the interface. Waze keeps the street names and written driving instructions in Chinese while the voice speaks English. It's frustrating and distracting if I don't clearly hear the voice and then have to try to match the symbols on the phone with the Chinese characters on the signs while I drive. Taiwan is almost officially bilingual (2030) so all the street signs have their Roman equivalent. If the app could use pinying as well, that would be great.

I suggest to have a button for displaying the maps in English language in Saudi Arabia. Apparently, someone hijacked the system and made only Arabic names displayed instead of bilingual like Google Maps and others. The hijackers took to the extend of replacing even Arabic numerals with Hindi ones thinking those are the Arabic numbers.

Why maps shown in local language?
2 month ago we've been in Germany and the maps and the voice were in German, despite I haven't changed the language settings from English.
Also, tourists coming to Israel find themselves not being able to use Waze, since nevertheless their phones set up in other languages, the app gives maps in Hebrew only.
Why? -

I agree. I use Waze a lot and one of the problems I have is finding the right address. I have to refer to Google maps to see if I found the correct address. There should be an option to switch languages on the map Please.
