AUSTRALIA REQUEST
I support this idea, but I would like to clarify and expand what the feature should do.
This should not simply place approved camera roads on the map.
Waze should automatically collect and update official mobile camera location information published by Australian state and territory authorities, then warn drivers before they enter one of those areas.
Suggested spoken warning:
“Approaching a possible mobile camera area.”
The word “possible” is important because an approved location does not mean a camera is currently operating there.
The feature should:
* check official government sources regularly
* update locations when authority lists change
* cover all Australian states and territories
* work during interstate travel
* warn drivers before entering the approved area
* distinguish official approved areas from live user-reported cameras
* continue using live Waze reports separatelySuggested alert types:
Official approved location:
“Approaching a possible mobile camera area.”Live community report:
“Mobile camera reported ahead.”This would allow Waze to combine official published data with its existing real-time community reporting system.
The purpose is preventative road safety. Drivers should be warned early enough to check their speed and adjust their behaviour before receiving a penalty weeks later.
