Suggestion to improve accuracy of speed camera reports
I would like to share a suggestion regarding the reporting of speed cameras in the Waze app.
Recently, I have noticed an increasing number of false speed camera reports along certain routes (for example, on the B469 near Aschaffenburg, Germany). In some cases, users appear to report multiple cameras along an entire stretch of road where none are present. This can be confusing for drivers and may reduce trust in the reliability of the reporting system.
To address this, I would like to propose a potential improvement: introducing a system that evaluates the accuracy of user reports over time. For example, if a user consistently submits reports that are later marked as incorrect by a significant majority of other users, their ability to report speed cameras could be temporarily limited, or their reports could carry less weight.
Such a system might help reduce misuse while still encouraging accurate contributions from the community.
I understand that there are challenges in verifying real-time data, especially with mobile speed cameras, but I believe a balanced approach could improve overall reliability.
Thank you for your continued work on Waze and for considering this suggestion.
