Real-time Border Wait Times & Dynamic Rerouting for International Travel
Currently, Waze lacks a dedicated feature for border crossing delays. While traffic is shown, there is no specific information about customs or passport control wait times.
I propose a consumer-facing feature that:
1. Visualizes specific border delays: Show a dedicated "Border Wait" timer on the route bar.
Dynamic Checkpoint Comparison: If the main border crossing (e.g., a major highway) is congested, Waze should automatically compare wait times at nearby smaller border crossings and suggest a faster alternative.
Crowdsourced Wait Times: Let users report their specific "Time to Cross" so others behind them get an accurate estimate.
This is especially crucial for regions with reinstated border controls (Schengen) or high-traffic borders like US/Mexico or Hungary/Serbia.
Please don't treat this as a "Permanent Hazard" but as a dynamic routing feature! This would be a unique selling point that sets Waze apart from standard navigation apps.
