Add Official Kurdish (Sorani) Voice and Localization Support
Proposal to Add Official Kurdish (Sorani) Voice and Localization Support to Waze
Dear Waze Community and Localization Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to you on behalf of the growing community of Waze users in the Kurdistan Region and globally. Waze is becoming an increasingly essential tool for daily commuting and navigation in our region. However, we currently lack official support for the Kurdish language, specifically Kurdish (Sorani), both in the app text interface and the voice navigation options.
Kurdish is spoken by tens of millions of people worldwide, and having an official Kurdish voice guide would significantly enhance driver safety, accessibility, and the overall user experience for a large demographic of loyal users.
As a dedicated community of volunteers, developers, and voice-over professionals, we are fully prepared to support the Waze team in making this happen. We can confidently assist with:
Translation & Localization: Translating the app interface, menus, and navigation prompts into standard, accurate Kurdish.
Professional Voice Recording: Providing high-quality, studio-recorded voice files for all navigation commands to ensure they meet Waze’s quality standards.
We would highly appreciate it if you could guide us on the official steps required to start this localization project and onboard us to the Waze Localization Platform (Centercode / Phrase).
Thank you for your time, dedication, and for continuously making Waze an inclusive and community-driven platform. We look forward to your positive response.
Best regards,
