Add vehicle emission standard (Euro 1–6) to enable routing that avoids LEZ/ULEZ/Oxigen zones.
Waze currently does not support routing based on vehicle emission standards (Euro 1–6), which makes it impossible for the app to avoid Low Emission Zones (LEZ), Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ), or local environmental tax areas such as the “Oxigen” zone in Bucharest. I propose adding a new setting under Vehicle Type where users can select their vehicle’s emission standard (Euro 1, Euro 2, Euro 3, Euro 4, Euro 5, Euro 6, Euro 6d, Hybrid, Electric). This would allow Waze to:
• automatically avoid restricted zones based on the selected emission class
• warn users before entering a zone where access is forbidden or taxed
• offer alternative routes outside restricted areas
• optionally provide a link to pay the required tax (if applicable).
This feature is increasingly necessary as many European cities enforce emission‑based restrictions. Without this functionality, Waze may route drivers into areas where they risk fines. Implementing this would significantly improve routing accuracy and user safety in cities with environmental regulations.
