Smart Dynamic Zoom and Visual Clean-up at Complex Junctions
Title: Smart Dynamic Zoom and Visual Clean-up at Complex Junctions
Description:
The Problem:
In dense urban areas with complex junctions (roundabouts, overpasses, multiple highway lanes, and exits), the Waze screen becomes heavily cluttered with nearby icons and secondary street names. Because the map view stays small, drivers have to look at the screen for too long to figure out which exact lane or exit to take. This distraction takes the driver's focus away from the road, increasing the risk of accidents and causing traffic disruptions when trying to change lanes at the last second.
The Solution:
Waze should implement a "Smart Focus Mode" before approaching complex maneuvers:
Dynamic Auto-Zoom: As the vehicle approaches a critical turn or exit, the map should automatically zoom in significantly to make the exact path, lanes, or overpasses crystal clear.
Contextual Clean-up: During this zoom phase, all nearby non-essential icons and text should be temporarily hidden, returning to default right after the maneuver is completed.
User Control: This feature should be fully customizable. Users should be able to turn the Auto-Zoom on/off and set their preferred zoom level in the settings.
The Benefit:
Drivers will need only a quick glance to fully understand the next move, drastically reducing screen distraction time. This means more time focusing on the road, fewer missed exits, fewer abrupt lane changes, and a safer, smoother flow of traffic.
