Show next-turn guidance on the instrument cluster in Android Automotive / Google built-in
Waze already displays the navigation map on the driver's instrument cluster in compatible vehicles with Android Automotive / Google built-in, such as the Nissan Qashqai MY2026.
However, unlike Google Maps on exactly the same vehicle, Waze does not display the next-turn information on the instrument cluster. Google Maps shows not only the map, but also useful turn-by-turn information such as the next maneuver arrow, remaining distance to the maneuver, exit number and/or street name.
It would be very useful if Waze could provide the same information on the driver's instrument cluster whenever the vehicle supports it.
For example, while driving with Waze on my Nissan Qashqai MY2026 with Google built-in, I can see the Waze map on the instrument cluster, but I have to look at the central infotainment screen to check the next turn, exit or remaining distance. With Google Maps, this information is displayed directly in front of the driver together with the map.
This would significantly improve the usability of Waze on Android Automotive / Google built-in vehicles and would allow drivers to keep their attention closer to the road.
Ideally, the instrument cluster could display:
Next maneuver / turn arrow
Distance to the next maneuver
Exit number when applicable
Street or road name when applicable
Since Google Maps already provides this information through the same vehicle display, it appears that the instrument cluster is technically capable of showing it.
Please consider adding this functionality to Waze for compatible Android Automotive / Google built-in vehicles.
