Enable audio alert for speed cams regardless of the speed.
Waze currently only triggers audio alerts about speed cams when the driver is above the speed limit of the specific cam.
Since the speed detection on Waze is very flawed (at least here in Brazil/Rio de Janeiro), and not all cams have their speed limit properly set, it would be MUCH better if Waze triggered it's audible alert for speed cams independently of the fact that the driver may be above or below the limit of the cam.
Thank you.
And keep up the good work!
Great news! The audio alert for speed camera regardless of the speed is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

This doesn't seem like a very difficult programming thing to do. I don't want ANY alerts expect Cops and Route changes.
But if there was a check box list how awesome would that be??!

I suggest adding an audible alarm when approaching a speed radar. There is a visual alarm but one must be permanently looking at the screen to perceive it. Even that alarm could be configurable for those who prefer not to listen to it.

It is VERY common that after the voice warning, at least for a while, you fluctuate your speed over. In Brazil there are plenty of important highways where you are forced to be under 60km/h dozens of times in short tracts.

Voice-warning of speed control cameras should occur not just once (500m before) but at least twice (e.g.200m before) and it must ocur irrespective of your own speed (not just when you are over).

This would be a very useful function, and the notification should be dependent on the decrement of the limit, e.g. if the limit drops from 75 to 60 than 150 yards ahead, if 75 to 55 than 200 yards etc...

Give options to set warnings below the limit, not just on or above.

Just trying out Waze today and not happy with the way it alerts speed and red light cameras.
A red light camera just showed up as a camera on the screen, and another had a flashing blue circle around it.
There was no audible warning and I can't find a setting to enable one.
If this is the default behaviour, I reckon it's useless. No-one drives with their eyes glued to the navi screen, so there is effectively no warning.

Good Morning,
I live in Brazil, in the city of São Paulo and I use Waze a lot.
Here in São Paulo there are many speed cameras and the fines are very frequent.
My sugestion:
I wish Waze would let me know whenever I had a radar, regardless of my speed. In this way I have the possibility of memorizing the places and thus avoid fines.
This problem of speeding in São Paulo is very big and if Waze could increase, improve warnings and alerts, it would help us a lot.Thank you,

It's been nearly a year since these comments were posted, why hasn't there been an answer given???

HI
If i am driving in low speed (20 kph) (traffic jam), it makes no sence to alert for speed camera.
Since wase knows my speed, it can use this information to decide.
Thanks

I agree notifications should be regardless of speed that's why I am switching to another app. Also lane guidance

I would like to set my own sound for speed notifications. the simple BEEP right now is too easy to ignore.

Waze should copy the behaviour of radardroid app about this case.

Waze must have an option if the user wants to get a notification sound even if he doesn't exceed the speed limit of the speed camera

It would be great if you could turn on sound notifications for speed cameras even when you're not speeding. If you make it as a configurable option, it won't annoy people who don't want them, but it would mean a great deal to a lot of us. It would also be great to be able to configure how far away from the speedtrap you get the notification.
The main reason for this request is that you have to look at your phone periodically to check for a camera, which is unsafe (even more if you are speeding).
Furthermore there are scenarios where the app thinks you're not speeding, because it has wrong data about the speed limit.
In my country it is very likely that the police are using a camera at the start of a restricted speed limit zone, in which case I will get the notification too late with the current version. -

I would like to select which alerts are audible.
If I am driving playing music,
I don't need an interruption telling me that there is fog or that someone is parked on a shoulder.
I prefer to just have an interruption notifying me that there are police. -

Yes and the sound should announce route CHANGES when on alerts only - deviations from initial or normal route should be includedin alerts

hi just got a new c3 2 months ago with the all in one screen so i put on your sat nave and found it bril but for 1 thing the speed cameras did not notify me with a sound i had tomtom before i got this new car and could turn sound of or on but looks like you do not have this on yours but dont you think for the sake of road safety it would be better for the driver to get sound as you have to take your eyes of the road to keep looking down at the screen to look for the flashing cameras hope you can sort this out on your next update for the sake of road safety
