Before automatically reporting slowness/stoppage, give the driver a button to cancel the report
The waze client is very quick to report slowness or stoppage as a traffic problem. There may be other reasons for a slowdown--maybe the driver has pulled off the road or is waiting at a really long light.
My idea for coping with this: If the client notices a slowdown, play a special tone and put a button or pop-up on the screen for a short amount of time (5-8 seconds?). That will give the driver the option of cancelling an incorrect traffic report before it goes out.
Of course, it shouldn't be so obtrusive as to get in the way. Maybe a subtle, translucent button like the zoom in/out and edit buttons?
This would cut down on traffic alerts popping up in weird, out-of-the-way cul-de-sacs.
Available on version 2.2 and on. When waze isn’t 100% sure about the traffic jam, it will ping and ask you to confirm you are in traffic.

This is a very good idea.

Great news but... it doesn't work for me (Android 2.2.0.0). Waze creat 3 times last week a slowness report without asking me my advice. Why ? Am I wrong somewhere or what ?

Should be able to do this without much user interaction, the GPS knows if you are off the road more then normal (say getting gas) and shouldn't bother with the report, but if it truly thinks you are on the road and still moving (slowly) in the same direction then auto send a problem. Somehow also give a "Traffic problem is clear" button.

After almost a year of wazing, I can NOT recall a single instance where I got stuck in traffic at a COMPLETE STANDSTILL over two minutes. It is probably save to say that a trafficreport stating complete standstill is almost always due to parking, pausing, picking someone up, stopping at a gasstation. In those very, very rare circumstances where a wazer is at a complete standstill indeed, a single question should be asked: "Are you stuck in traffic? YES NO". (default NO) That's all that is needed to distinguish parking from a jam.

I'd be in favour of a Settings option to select on of the following:
- Automatically report traffic
- Ask whether to report traffic (default Yes after 20 secs)
- Ask whether to report traffic (default No after 20 secs)
- Never automatically report trafficI would then like a loud "bing" if either of the pop-up options are selected. But I'm also in favour of an option on the front screen to suspend automatic reporting easily for a short stop - eg at a fuel station.

Great idea. If you wanted to bring down the noice further you could probably limit it to near-standstill conditions since they are the main culprits (i.e. you stopped for reasons other than traffic). Sure there are reasons to slow down as well, but they are probably very very few.

This is a great idea - it's amazing how often I sit in my own self induced traffic problem without the ability to mark it as incorrect.
