Save Lives on the Road: Add Animal Crossing Alerts
We are a LEGO League team of 4th graders from Arlington VA who have done a lot of research and spoken to many experts on the problem of wildlife‑vehicle crashes. We’re asking Waze to help reduce wildlife‑vehicle crashes nationwide and save our ecosystem. Waze can tap into existing databases from dept of transportation and vehicle insurance companies which track animal related road accidents to identify those areas.
Every year in the U.S., there are ~1.5 million deer‑vehicle collisions, causing over $1 billion in damage, 200 deaths, and 10,000 injuries. The total national cost of wildlife‑vehicle collisions reaches $8.5 billion annually.
We propose 2 simple features:
Automatic Animal‑Crossing Alerts
Use national wildlife‑crossing data to show permanent warnings just like average‑speed‑control or curve alerts whenever drivers enter a high animal density crossing area.Real‑Time “Animal on Road” Report Button
Let drivers report animal sightings instantly, just like police or hazard reports. These small changes could save lives, save money, prevent crashes, and protect wildlife across the country.
Please upvote to help make Waze even safer!

Permanently Map Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Cameras Using DeFlock Data
Feature Request — Permanently Map Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Cameras Using DeFlock Data
I would like to request that your navigation platform add Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras, including Flock Safety cameras and similar roadside surveillance systems, as a permanent map feature.
Currently, navigation applications display permanent infrastructure such as traffic signals, speed cameras, and red-light cameras, but generally do not distinguish ALPR surveillance cameras as their own category.
These cameras are increasingly common along public roads, and I believe drivers should have the ability to see where they are located.
Proposed functionality:
- Add ALPR cameras as a dedicated permanent camera category, distinct from speed and red-light enforcement cameras.
- Display camera locations and, where available, the direction of surveillance.
- Allow users to enable or disable ALPR camera visibility and approaching-camera notifications.
- Support verified additions, removals, and corrections to the camera database.
- Explore integrating existing camera location data from DeFlock (https://maps.deflock.org/) and its underlying OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Investigate an automated data integration that periodically synchronizes camera locations as the database changes.
I currently report cameras manually through Waze, but individual reports are not a practical or scalable way to document the large number of permanent ALPR installations.
The DeFlock project already maintains a substantial crowdsourced database, making it a promising starting point for a more comprehensive solution.
This feature would improve transparency about roadside surveillance infrastructure and allow drivers to make more informed decisions about their travel.
I am requesting that ALPR cameras be treated as their own infrastructure category rather than incorrectly classified as police activity, speed cameras, or red-light cameras.
Thank you for considering this feature and a potential integration with the DeFlock project.

Hello Waze Team,
I would like to suggest adding a colorblind-friendly option to the Waze display settings. The blue words on the black background are very difficult for me to read. Greater contrast between the text and its background would make the information much easier to see at a glance.
An option to change the text color, select a high-contrast mode, or choose a colorblind-friendly color scheme would be very helpful. Using brighter text against the dark background could significantly improve readability.
While driving, it is important to be able to read the information quickly without spending extra time looking at the screen. More contrasting text colors would make Waze easier to use for people with color vision difficulties.
Please consider adding this option in a future update. If there is already a setting that can improve the contrast of the blue text on the black background, I would appreciate instructions on how to enable it.

Section tolls are different from Standard Vignettes
Section tolls are different from standard Vignettes. But it seems the system classify all as tolls when a destination is entered even though in" passes' - it says you should enter every vivnette/ passes that you have. Having a standard vignette does not mean you can use all highways in Austria (something I learn the hardway of a recent 200 euro fine). You still need other separate section tolls for different highways even when you already purchased a standard vignette. There should be a way to clarify this in the system app so drivers avoid extreme fines. I thought my standard vignette was enough only to get a separate 200 euro fine because I thought I already purchased a vignette and did not know I needed a separate section toll. Quite a hefty penalty for me as I live in a low income country.

Best lane that minimises lane switches for the entire route
Currently, Waze shows which lanes you can take to follow the route.
I thought it be nice if on top of showing all possible lanes, Waze would also indicate which lane is best to stick to if you want to change lanes as little as possible.
For example, making the best lane a different colour or adding an icon.

Bring-back the "share my drive" option.
You used to offer the option to watch someone's "share my drive" but have recently (in the last 30 days) decided to block this feature on the PC browser side of things. Now it just stupidly acts like I should "install on other mobile devices" option instead of an actual "share my drive" option like we used to be able to view. Please bring it back!

Adding a report in Israel regarding a mobile police speed camera—as opposed to a mobile police camera that does not record vehicle speed.
To distinguish between a public transport lane and a regular lane, the arrow for the public transport lane—as displayed in Waze—should be colored yellow instead of white. For example, if there are two lanes and the right-hand one is a public transport lane, it should be colored yellow. This applies only during the hours when the lane is restricted to public transport vehicles.

Dedicated report option for Incident Response & non-police emergency vehicles
In New South Wales, Transport Management Centre (TMC) incident response vehicles are frequently reported as “Police” on motorways like the M1 and M4 simply because of their flashing lights.
While it is valuable for drivers to know there is an incident response unit or roadside service ahead, misreporting them dilutes the utility of the “Police” alert, which should ideally be reserved for law enforcement (such as Highway Patrol).
Having a dedicated report category—such as “Incident Response / Service Vehicle” or a broader “Emergency Vehicle (Non-Police)” option under Roadside Hazards—would:
- Keep “Police” alerts accurate and focused on active enforcement.
- Give drivers situational awareness of roadside operations (TMC, breakdown recovery, fire/SES) without creating false speed traps.
- Improve overall report data quality across the network.

Since the latest IOS update to IOS 27.0.1, the 'search' icon and the 'home/Work' icon have been blacked out on apple carplay in both of my cars. I have an iphone 14 if that makes a difference. I am not sure if other users have experienced this.

Pre-drive route checklist prompt before long trips
Long intercity drives are where small oversights turn into long detours: a closed fuel stop, a missed turn onto a toll road, low phone battery with hours still to go.
Our field team keeps a simple route checklist for every long drive and runs through it before setting off, and a short in-app prompt at departure — fuel, tolls, offline map downloaded, charger packed — would bring the same habit to every driver.
The prompt could appear once per planned drive over a set distance, be fully dismissible, and let drivers tick the items off in seconds. Small feature, but it prevents the most common long-trip mistakes.
