1. BUG: Waze app degrades Bluetooth music audio quality when launched before music playback

   Summary:
   When the navigation app is started first and then music is played via Bluetooth, audio quality from Apple Music (and other streaming apps) is noticeably worse than when music is started before launching navigation.

   Device tested: iPhone 11, 12Pro, 13Pro, 14Pro

   Navigation app: Waze

   Cars tested : BMW 5GT 2015, BMW X32017, BMW 420 2019, MB GLC 2017

   Connection: Bluetooth (A2DP for media; HFP/SCO may be triggered by voice prompts)

   Steps to Reproduce:

   Pair iPhone to car head unit via Bluetooth.

   Launch the navigation app and start a route with voice prompts enabled.

   Start music playback in Apple Music over Bluetooth.

   Listen to music audio quality even with voice prompts disabled.

   Expected Result:
   Music audio quality should be consistent regardless of the order in which apps are launched. Voice prompts should mix or duck volume without degrading the music stream’s codec/bitrate/perceived fidelity.

   Actual Result:
   When navigation is started before music, music sounds compressed, quieter, or “worse” (reduced fidelity). If music is started before launching navigation, audio quality remains normal. This indicates the navigation app’s early audio focus request causes the Bluetooth stack/head unit to lock into a lower‑quality audio path for subsequent music playback.

   Additional Context:

   Issue is more noticeable with high‑quality streaming (e.g., Apple Music lossless/high‑bitrate sources).

   Likely related to audio focus handling and Bluetooth profile/codec switching when the navigation app acquires the voice channel first.

   Observed workaround: start music playback before launching the navigation app; however, this is not intuitive and should not be required.

   Hi Waze Team,

   I would like to share a feature suggestion based on a real-world driving experience.

   Last week, at around 4:00 PM, I set out on a trip from Joinville to Rio do Sul (Santa Catarina, Brazil). At departure, Waze suggested Route 1 (via BR-101 / Navegantes) as the fastest option. However, the route selection was based on the traffic conditions across the entire path at 4:00 PM.

   As a result, by the time I reached the Blumenau area around 6:00 PM, I ran straight into the predictable rush-hour gridlock on the BR-470 highway. Had I taken Route 2 (via Jaraguá do Sul) at 4:00 PM, I would have avoided kilometers of heavy traffic altogether.

   My Proposal:
   Integrate a predictive AI/Machine Learning model that calculates route efficiency continuously over time. Instead of assessing current traffic along the whole trip at departure, the algorithm should project expected traffic conditions for the exact time the driver is estimated to hit each specific segment (e.g., predicting 6:00 PM traffic in Blumenau for a driver departing Joinville at 4:00 PM).

   This forward-looking approach would make long-distance routing significantly more accurate and stress-free.

9. Real-Time Cyclist and Runner Safety Alerts

   I would like to suggest a new Waze safety feature that would allow cyclists and runners who use roads shared with motor vehicles to make their presence visible to nearby drivers in real time.

   Cyclists and runners could activate a dedicated “Cyclist” or “Runner” safety mode in the Waze app. While this mode is active, Waze would anonymously share their approximate real-time location with approaching drivers. Drivers could then receive an audio warning such as:

   “Caution: cyclist ahead.”
   “Caution: runner on the road ahead.”

   The warning should be given early enough for the driver to slow down and pass safely. The runner or cyclist would not need to interact with the app while moving—the mode could remain active until manually stopped or automatically end when the activity is completed. To protect privacy, their identity and full route would not be displayed.

   Real-life example
   Almost every morning, while driving to work, I encounter a runner using the same road as cars and trucks. When there are trucks in front of me, they often block my view, and I may only see the runner at the last moment. This creates a dangerous situation for the runner, for me, and for other drivers.

   If the runner could activate Waze before starting, approaching drivers could receive an early audio warning and have enough time to reduce their speed and leave a safe passing distance.

   Benefits
   Increased safety for runners, cyclists, and drivers
   Earlier warnings in poor visibility, darkness, fog, or heavy traffic
   Fewer dangerous last-second reactions
   Better awareness on roads without sidewalks or dedicated cycle lanes
   Additional protection when large vehicles block a driver’s view
   For this feature to work effectively, Waze could also launch an awareness campaign encouraging runners and cyclists to use the safety mode whenever they travel on roads shared with motor vehicles. Partnerships with running clubs, cycling communities, sports events, and road-safety organizations could help promote it.

   This feature could extend Waze’s community-based safety approach beyond drivers and help protect all road users.

12. Navigation Banner Location Left/Right

    Seems to be on android auto the navigation banner goes top left which can be really difficult to read at times, especially since in the UK we drive on the right hand side, it could be easily fixed/implemented because apple car play already displays it top right.

13. Navigation Banner Location Left/Right

    In the UK we drive right hand cars and having the navigation banner top left can be really hard to read sometimes, I think it would be really easy to fix/implement because Apple CarPlay already displays this information top right.

14. UK Verbal camera alerts

    UK Verbal camera alerts -

    Please add an option to have a verbal warning for a camera (whatever type of camera) coming ahead. At the moment there is no alert, meaning we have to look at the screen to see if there is a camera ahead! Eyes should be on the road and not on Waze.

15. Voice reporting popup

    It's fine to have voice reporting as a feature for people who want it or are required by law, but I do not want my device to listen to me constantly. Yet Waze keeps giving me a nearly Fullscreen popup asking to enable it that never goes away unless you hit the 'later' button.

    Please make this popup only temporary and add an option to make it permanently go away!

17. Won’t get rid of Apple Maps until the feature is fixed

    I love Waze but the one issue that keeps me from just fully deleting Apple Maps is the inability to search for a location while my phone is Connected to Apple CarPlay and be able to see on the map where the location is. It only gives options by the distance from me. I moved to a big new city and also travel a lot for work and it’s frustrating to not be able to see in which direction say for instance a gas station is from me. Same goes for adding a stop, cant tell if the location is 4 miles in the opposite direction or along the way.

19. Add a “Crazy Taxi” sidekick voice (like the announcer voice)

    I’m surprised nobody else thought of this yet (or if they did it’s too far down, mb 😂) I was thinking it could sound a little like this:

    Route start: Hey hey hey, it's time to make some crazy money! Are you ready? Here we go!”

20. Add ons

    Add satellite view, have road names shown as your driving like Google maps has. Have a flat leveled view, no off center view, makes no sense. Then I'll use it.
