Simulator to test editions
Sometimes when we make changes to the map, we need to wait for it to update to see if it had the desired effect.
It would be nice to have some type of simulation in the WME and thus be able to avoid various changes until the expected result is obtained.
Because of COVID, many editors have not been able to check if the changes we made had the impact we wanted, so we had to wait for a report that warns us of the error or not.
Hey,
Thank you for the suggestion.
At the moment we won’t be moving forward with it as adding an additional environment will need to create major change in our tile build mechanism , and our heuristics which is not planned at the moment.

May I add a follow-up to the suggestion?
I understand that building a simulator “from scratch” inside WME would be complex. So my proposal is that the simulator could instead run inside the Waze app itself.
What do I mean by that? The editor would use one of those secret debug codes full of @ and # to unlock a cheat that simulates movement as if the user were physically located somewhere else. Basically, the editor would define a start point and a destination, and then watch the movement on the phone screen at a fixed speed, exactly as if real navigation were taking place.
To me, this seems much simpler to implement. What do you think?

And, people tend to use as many nodes as they can in creating roads and areas. However, the number of nodes are optimised in the display on mobile phones, making the shapes of roads and areas awkward.
A preview on WME to show what it looks like in Waze app would definitely help make the maps more appealing to users.
