Differentiate between area map comments and point comments
It would be great if it would be made possible to select to only see point map comments and/or area map comments.
Area map comments are quite intrusive, leading to a lot of editors switching off the comment layer. As a result they sometimes miss useful information and make unnecessary edits.
If you can choose to only see one type of comment, that would be very helpful.

Sorry, I'm only just noticing these comments.
@Dwarflord: I agree, making point MC more visible should be default WME behaviour. Now you need a script for it (URO+, for example). That could indeed help to reduce the use of Area MC.
@nzahn1: That already happens now. The difference will be that point MC will remain and the intrusive area MC could be switched off. So it helps shower more MC rather than less.

I think the real problem is that editors are underusing Map-Comment points. It is not surprising, as MC Points are often hard to notice. I have direct experience with ranking editors who should know better making changes without respecting critical information in adjacent MC Points. I can only assume it is because the Points didn't stand out enough and weren't noticed. So I have been using MC Areas more frequently, though I'd rather use MC Points.
So perhaps the real solution is to make MC Points more visible? Larger? More colorful? Somehow harder to miss. Then encourage editing communities to rely more heavily on MC Points than MC Areas.
MC Areas are needed for certain situations, but they are indeed intrusive, and I too find myself forced to switch off the comment layer to really see what is going on under them.

But if the feature would allow users to turn off area comments, wouldn't they again miss useful information and make bad edits?
