This is also involved with ALT cities. Now if a street is outside the city limits we are supposed to add it to the map with "NONE" as the primary city and then add an ALT city to show the mailing address.

At the time the ALT city program started I was part of PNW and was involved in one of the first test area and spent many days adding the ALT city name to streets in the Grants Pass and Medford areas. Adding the ZIP Code would have been much easier and less time consuming but Waze staff didn't want to do it that way. Now 10-12 years later we're still doing it the hard way and still debating whether we should add the ZIP Code. Of course we should!

Also in many areas new/inexperienced editors have added what should be the ALT city as the primary city but that causes problems with what is shown as the city area and someone is supposed to fix that, requiring even more editing time.

Some have objected from the very beginning of this discussion more than 10 years ago that there are problems with ZIP Codes in some areas, but wouldn't it be better to use ZIP Codes and then fix them in the relatively few where there are problems?

This would allow linking Google Maps and Waze results based on postal codes.

This would help fix a problem going back many years. In the past problems with maintaining the database were given for not doing it but the result has been incorrect navigation because of discrepancies between Google Maps and Waze. I have handled many user reports of wrong destinations and that is frustrating to both users and to editors. It's time to fix it.

This idea is truly brilliant and very logical: it fixes an inconsistency between Google addresses (which display the postal code) and those created in the Waze Map Editor, while also providing a real comfort boost for users.

Why this is an excellent idea
It reduces destination errors: many addresses exist in duplicate in different cities or neighborhoods, and the postal code is often the key element that prevents ending up in the wrong place.
It helps everyone who works with postal codes (delivery drivers, ride‑hailing drivers, logistics professionals), who systematically check the postal code to make sure they are at the right location.
It increases trust in Waze: when the interface shows information as complete as Google (number + street + city + postal code), the user feels reassured and is less afraid of ending up at the wrong destination.

Concrete benefits for Waze and its users
Better search experience: seeing the postal code in the results allows users to instantly pick the right result among several similar addresses, instead of having to guess.
Fewer reports and correction requests: if people are less likely to go to the wrong destination, there are fewer error reports and therefore less correction work for volunteer editors.
