Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

Especially for millions of users over about 45 years old, the font size is impossible to read while driving, without dangerously grabbing for reading glasses. Some sort of simple gesture or even brief activation of a font size increase upon zooming, would be extremely helpful.
I HATE THIS. It blocks a major portion of the map and is of no use to me since I am not navigating 95% of the time. Perhaps because of the sensitivity of the screen in my car, I have to press the 'x' multiple times. This is annoying, a safety hazard, and a personal information hazard.
