have the option of adding a "do not sleep beep" at pre-determined intervals (30", 1', 1'30"...up to 5'). A "press here" button will appear at different locations on the screen at the selected times and the phone will beep. The beeping will cease once the driver presses the button. Beeping will go silent until the next pre-determined time.

have the option of keeping the compass always on (not just when tapping the screen)

absolutely, this is a great life-saving idea for long rides, and the fact that, to use other do not sleep apps, the driver must have Waze off or not on top.
Also, the alarm should go on a crescendo if not pressed within 2 seconds.
