GPS coordinates
It would be great to have a GPS dashboard panel, displaying in the same screen:
- Longitude, Latitude & Elevation
- Velocity
- GPS status (fixed, not fixed, ...)
- Signal's strength
- Compass
Something like this picture: http://i49.tinypic.com/15chxqc.png
Great thinking! We’ll share with the team; they’re always interested in new feature ideas.

What benefit would that ever be in a navigation app? Just more maintenance for the developers.

Most important when traveling is having your bearings. Add a compass and your navigation will be the best.

Waze on my Android tablet only shows a compass briefly when I move the screen with my finger. I'd like to see a compass option that'll keep it on the screen all the time. I've seen several people describe a setting that does that. My Waze does not have that setting.

The Waze app determines the direction the car is moving using the GPS locations in time. When the car is not moving the system does not know in which direction the car is pointing.
This causes a problem, when starting to move the system does not give a valid instruction in which way to drive and sometimes immediately instructing to perform a (lawful) U turn.
To avoid this my idea is to connect the Waze system to an integrated compass in the mobile phone (or the car system).
Doing so and instructing the driver to hold the phone parallel to the car for a few seconds before starting to drive, will enable the system the required data to “know” in which geographical direction the car is pointing and thus give the correct navigation instruction from the very beginning. -

i suggest for Adding compass, latitude, longitude and Elevation on the display because all the major sat nav are doing it and plus its a very good security feature if you break down or need assistance.

A feature of displaying a floating compass on the map to display a letter in the direction being traveled. Or to show it in a compass format and have it rotate in view with the vehicle direction.
This feature would be very helpful, more so the the true North feature for people who struggle with maps and directions and add a more stream line feature of the map, could be displayed on the top left, or right corner of the map or just in the notification screen in android or Apple auto.
Location could be established by vehicle direction. -

I agree. Using the compass of the mobile device to identify the position of the car before starting and to know if it is on an uphill or downhill road. So the route can be calculated more precisely.

Hello,
I drive for UBER and find that when first starting or after a U-turn the map looses its' direction until I have driven a fair distance. Seeing as all smart phones have a built in compass it seems like integrating that into the program would allow the map to always know which way the car is going.
