Please allow me to attempt to articulate some of my own thoughts, similar to some of the other comments on this idea:
- The ability to set specific parameters such as "if toll route is >[xx] minutes faster AND cost is <[xx] then automatically select the toll route; else select no-toll route."
- Also it would be useful to include: "if toll route is >[xx] time faster and cost >[xx] then display differences and prompt user to select toll/ no toll.
- In addition to functions like those I just listed, include the option to input tiers of time-saved parameters and tiers of maximum threshold parameters for the total calculated cost of the tolls. (for example: "if time-saved is > 20 minutes and cost is < $5 then automatically select the toll route; if time-saved is < 7 minutes and cost is > $3 then list the differences in cost and time with the options and prompt the user to select the desired route before proceeding." Then: "if the user is in motion and does not select a route within [user selected parameter between 15-70 seconds] then automatically select [user selected parameter with default being 'fastest no-toll' route but allowing the user to also select between 'fastest no-toll' - 'fastest overall' - 'most fuel efficient/ shortest distance' - 'least expensive tolls or no tolls'
I've noticed that it seems there has been some advancement in the decision algorithm where tolls are concerned, but like others have mentioned here, there's still a LOT more to do in order to make it the most helpful it can be.
Thanks for all the work you guys all put into this service! It has come so far over the years, and I can't wait to see what it will do next. Hopefully it won't be long before these toll factoring suggestions get incorporated into Waze!
- Like Ela, the OP, listed with regards to fuel economy, the user could also have the option to input preferred distance parameters, or just go with system defaults.
