- Include “Avoid hazardous area” as route options.
We have seen many drivers get into slum areas that are really dangerous, with many episodes of people getting killed when entering on those areas in Rio de Janeiro, for example. I experienced this on other cities in Brazil and, sometimes, I really avoid using Waze because of this.
Great news! The option to avoid high risk areas is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

This data should be readily available and easy to incorporate into the app.

Option to exclude certain roads because of their conditions. Because of safety. Some roads are known to pass dangerous crime hotspots. Some roads are have lots of water when it rains. Option to exclude such roads when planning a trip.
The other day I was driving to Alexandra in Gauteng, I was surprised when I was passing this place that didn't look safe, worse part I had to stop at traffic light.

Avoid areas that are identified as unsafe, today Waze took me through the town of Pretoria which is unsafe in general and I am a woman who was alone. Also townships in SA are very very unsafe

I would like Waze to offer an option to avoid unsafe areas. (You could pull police data) I would use this option when travelling in unfamiliar areas to avoid putting my family in risky areas. Perhaps you could offer it as a route option with a special color

In the Waze algorithm, Waze can pull local data via API's, web scrapping, or other techniques on crime data, vehicle accident areas, and other relevant safety traveling information into the algorithm. Once included in the model it can adjust the routes based on these accidents, crime, and the like and ensure that users can go from point a to point b safely.
When traveling recently Waze took me the "fastest/shortest" route but did so in a high crime area of a city along my path. And our location was no where near the "detour".

There are times when Im driving in a big city for work or on holiday, I know what the dangerous areas are called but I have no idea where they are or how to get to my destination .. Hence using Waze. Sometimes it is too late to realise where I am and Im on a road where I cannot turn around; and I'm one red light away from being hijacked or being involved in a smash and grab. I would recommend a feature that allows users to manually input areas to avoid. That way when Waze looks for the quickest route it will avoid those areas

I was recently diverted off a main highway and ended up being routed through an area where they tried to hijack me with guns. Waze regularly tries to reroute me through this dangerous area and I now avoid it but can you not add a feature whereby an area can be listed as dangerous and, after a pre-determined number of tags as being dangerous, the area is avoided unless the user specifically adds it as a destination? Toda Raba!

Coming from a third-world country, Wazes has taken myself and many people I know through areas that felt quite unsafe. Resulting in high-jacking and robbery, etc. This is unfortunate because the app is super useful. I see a few people have requested something similar, but it would be really nice to have the ability to mark an area as unsafe. This definition of "unsafe" varies from individual to individual, which is why it would be better for it to be persisted for the individual user, and Waze would then navigate the user to the next best route to take. This would help many people who already use Waze to get to unknown destinations whilst traveling unfamiliar roads in unfamiliar areas. Let's help users get to their destinations safely

A minha sugestão seria:
Antes do usuário aceitar a rota/viagem e clicar na instrução para início do trajeto, o aplicativo poderia mostrar as opções disponíveis. Bem como escolher o trajeto preferido (ex.: mais movimentado, mais rápido, mais comum, entre outros).Atenciosamente,

I commute out of DC through some of the most dangerous areas on the East side of town and through the near Maryland suburbs to get to my home beyond them. The system routinely only offers me options winding through those unsafe (not a value judgment, people are shot in their cars at red lights) bad neighborhoods if my "main" safe route home is slowed for some reason. I realize you probably don't want the legal hassle of trying to determine which areas are unsafe for drivers. But, can I somehow force the system to not even consider certain areas between my office and my home? Can I reject a route offered and have the system prompt me to make it permanent or only this time? Can I force the system to give me more options, even if it will take longer?

This is WAY more important then openings on the roads. Countries in South America really need this! There should be a way to point them the same on the map.
