- Include “Avoid hazardous area” as route options.
We have seen many drivers get into slum areas that are really dangerous, with many episodes of people getting killed when entering on those areas in Rio de Janeiro, for example. I experienced this on other cities in Brazil and, sometimes, I really avoid using Waze because of this.
Great news! The option to avoid high risk areas is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

There are many thousands of Jews (kohanim) who are careful not to drive over certain places where there are known to be graves under the road. They would highly appreciate it if Waze knew how to avoid these places. We can supply the coordinates if you let us know how to do this.
Thank you very much,

It would be super great if waze could block areas where you do not want to drive through, when it calculates and suggestests routes. For example for countries where there are some non-recommendable zones you could block them when the app calculates the routes keeping the driver safe all the time!
For example, as it happended last year I think that someone got a lost bullet in a shanty town, because the route planner sent the person into a part of the city that was not recommended and the person was foreigner and also did not know. In case one could block areas and more users could feed in information about which areas in some countries are not advisable even a person coming fresh to a city could stay safe.

Same as we can currently avoid unpaved roads (as a setting), we need an option to avoid DANGER areas that are previously marked, same as vehicular restriction areas are marked.

Unfortunately in Brazil sometimes when someone is following Waze directions he/she may get in dangerous situation when entering a "favela" or a high risk área. Maybe Waze can define some "dangerous areas" according to criminal data - collected from local police. Then the driver can select a faster path or a safer one..

Here in Brazil, I sugest that do existent some information about the "favelas" areas in maps. That should be some diferentes color in the map, with a discription of "take care, that could be dangerous", or some like that. And a new icon to the wasers report favela áreas to the app, like we do with police, for an example. Sory about my english, I'm not a expert. ;)

Waze.com does indeed give wrong directions, even though I typed in the complete address and even though I later found the interstate was directly behind me and was the correct route! Waze.com instead took me through a very rough part of Louisville and it was frightening. I made it through but the woman in Brazil did not. It is back to old fashioned maps for me. You have much work to do for your app. And waze.com is indeed responsible for sending her to her death. You didn't kill her but you sure misdirected her. At least admit that.

ADD a new NAVIGATION STYLE: "EASY", like IG GO GPS. Easy means avoid shortcuts. Use MAIN road, Avenue or Street.
That is important to use in a place / city YOU DON´T KNOW.
This would help to avoid situation like happened in RIO DE JANEIRO - BRAZIL, on October, 3rd 2015, when a couple entered in a poor comunity and bandit shoot them. -

There are places, streets, neighborhoods, that local users and editors can easily spot and mark as unsafe to pass through.
The user could choose or decide (on configurations) if this will be shown or not.
This is an WAZE image issue, in a sense that this kind of situation could destroy the use of the applications in a country. -

Recently in Brazil an old woman was shot dead because instead of directing she and her husband to a certain street it took them to a street in a drug dealer-dominated favela with the same name as the one they wanted to go. A close friend of mine was sent there by waze (yes, waze) as well, and while he was driving through that place another car had their tires pierced by spikes on the road. Another famous brazilian actress ended up having her car shot there because of waze.
Below, a link to the article about the woman's death (in Portuguese).

The app should have a feature to avoid perilous areas of the city unless the destination address falls inside the area. This is extremely important for waze users in cities such as Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo for safety reasons.

Avoid dangerous streets in the city. For example, avoid going through favelas by determining regions known to be dangerous.

Guys, you guys could provide SETTINGS / NAVIGATION, and AVOID AVOID TOLLS and WAY EXPRESS, "Avoid WAY" for some routes, the application suggests pass within communities or dangerous places.
What do you guys think?

Waze is becoming a dangerous app for brazilians! There are some streets in Brazil that if you get to them you´re sure to be robbed (most of the times with guns to your head) and Waze sometimes can help the bad guys! How? If you choose the fastest court there are some shortcuts that pass through these streets (like Almirande Delamar in Sao Paulo) and then.........done! You get robbed....killed.....! Who knows! There must be a way for you guys to change it! Help!!
