- Include “Avoid hazardous area” as route options.
We have seen many drivers get into slum areas that are really dangerous, with many episodes of people getting killed when entering on those areas in Rio de Janeiro, for example. I experienced this on other cities in Brazil and, sometimes, I really avoid using Waze because of this.
Great news! The option to avoid high risk areas is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

ADD a new NAVIGATION STYLE: "EASY", like IG GO GPS. Easy means avoid shortcuts. Use MAIN road, Avenue or Street.
That is important to use in a place / city YOU DON´T KNOW.
This would help to avoid situation like happened in RIO DE JANEIRO - BRAZIL, on October, 3rd 2015, when a couple entered in a poor comunity and bandit shoot them. -

There are places, streets, neighborhoods, that local users and editors can easily spot and mark as unsafe to pass through.
The user could choose or decide (on configurations) if this will be shown or not.
This is an WAZE image issue, in a sense that this kind of situation could destroy the use of the applications in a country. -

Recently in Brazil an old woman was shot dead because instead of directing she and her husband to a certain street it took them to a street in a drug dealer-dominated favela with the same name as the one they wanted to go. A close friend of mine was sent there by waze (yes, waze) as well, and while he was driving through that place another car had their tires pierced by spikes on the road. Another famous brazilian actress ended up having her car shot there because of waze.
Below, a link to the article about the woman's death (in Portuguese).

Avoid dangerous streets in the city. For example, avoid going through favelas by determining regions known to be dangerous.

Guys, you guys could provide SETTINGS / NAVIGATION, and AVOID AVOID TOLLS and WAY EXPRESS, "Avoid WAY" for some routes, the application suggests pass within communities or dangerous places.
What do you guys think?

Waze is becoming a dangerous app for brazilians! There are some streets in Brazil that if you get to them you´re sure to be robbed (most of the times with guns to your head) and Waze sometimes can help the bad guys! How? If you choose the fastest court there are some shortcuts that pass through these streets (like Almirande Delamar in Sao Paulo) and then.........done! You get robbed....killed.....! Who knows! There must be a way for you guys to change it! Help!!

I went through a personal experience. I had my car stolen twice in one month. This got me thinking about how best current GPS create their routes.
A route is created but is not taken into account the degree of safety of the path to be followed, therefore we are subjected to travel on both safe places, as for hazardous locations. Based on this scenario, I wondered why a GPS system could not also tell me a kind of index of safety (based on reports or postings) on the indicated route to my final destination.
This same GPS system can also choose alternative routes based on safety.
There are many cases in Brazil and other countries in which routes were drawn and people were victims of crime because they are in hazardous locations with high rates of violence..
Is not interesting work about a safety GPS program or system that care about those points?
A program that gives us an opportunity to register via a post comment or an offense that eventually happens to us.
By means of a statistical level of violence this program could then generate a risk indicator at certain locations of the trajectory that has been determined.
This would give us the possibility of alternative safe routes according to the index of violence generated relying on posts.Att, Leonardo de Freitas

Mark an area as a slum so you and other wazers can avoid it. Sorry if that's not politically correct or nice, but some places are dangerous. Eg. throwing bricks at cars, placing logs across roads, etc, to hijack you, etc.
