Can you upgrade this

It would be really nice if Waze could work in the background and not always have to access your location. Do like Apple Maps and Google Maps and access your location when using it, but still work in the background with navigation. With that, it would be nice to be able to see my navigation in the lock screen while getting directions so I can keep hands free while using the app

you recently changed the ios app to use GPS "always" or "never" used to have setting to use only when app was running. When GPS always on drains the battery. Therefore, I don't use the app as much

Blame google for your loss of control. It is [considered] a security update to prevent apps from invoking GPS. And this is great as most "free" apps are not-free but adware; those typically "request" location permissions.

Root your android for more control.

Other GPS products like RunKeeper offer a button to enable phone GPS when starting the app. Why can't Waze do the same thing, instead of the display tip to exit, go to phone settings, etc., etc.? It would save time and steps when you're in traffic, GPS is off, and you want to quickly get Waze going to find a better route.

Ability to turn on GPS from within Waze, not only for battery life but for convenience. You now have to exit Waze and turn on GPS, and come back to app. Has been frustrating. OK, a little. :-) Great app!!!
