Routing server timeout on long drives
Since the app seems to consistently time out looking for long drives, I would recommend allowing more back end resources be used for drives over a certain mileage or time. This might require an upgrade based on the high number of users.
Instead of having just one option, I would like to be able to choose between options since there are riskier routes for adding traffic.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue since I can have perfect service on an iPhone 6S and consistently have your servers time out.

I'm having this issue too and I've been using waze a long time, I FOUND THE FIX!!!! I stopped using Waze because of this. I feel when a software company takes this looks g to resolve an issue I dont contribute to the use of their software

How is this still an issue? I’m finding forum posts from YEARS ago. People drive for longer than 1-2 hours, give us a break!

Why is this such a problem. I have been a waze user since the beginning. I guess I recommended it to too many people and now the server gets over loaded.

Please fix this! Long drives are the entire purpose of using Waze, and breaking the rout into smaller chunks defeats the purpose of finding the best overall route from point A to point B.

I'm just trying to get a route to LI right now to a destination that is only 45 miles away and getting routing server timeout message. Is it because there is so much traffic?

Google is likely neglecting Waze dev. To force switch to Google maps

Unfortunately, this app has become a dumpster fire since being bought by Google. Constantly get "route server timeout" errors for planning 250-300 mile trips. What's even more fun is getting them while enroute. iPhone 6s, fully updated. Cannot wait for the next new nav app so I can dump this trash. How to improve Waze? Long routes put "too much weight on the servers". Upgrade your servers. Seems, I dunno, logical? The forums are filled with this complaint. Try listening.

SOLUTION TO TIME OUT I had the same timeout problem on long trips - tried the comment below suggesting checking Settings........ I turned off the avoid tolls and avoid highways functions/options and it works fine now.
Even for a 14 hour drive D.C to FLComment below: .......I fixed timeout by remembering that I had set navigation to avoiding tolls which carries one around tolls to destination which means turning a potential 100 mile trip into 500 miles. Therefore, go to navigation setting first and verify.

Trying to choose best route from belgium to switzerland. I want to compare different options, through France or Germany, so I can't split up. Always get a time out on server. Waze seems only good for short drives.... and for that I don't need Waze...

I can’t even get a route for a 155 mile drive any more in LA and Orange Counties. Can’t break it up because the multiple options begin 20 minutes into the drive and go in very different directions.
Used to love Waze and tell others about. Not any more. -

You need to address the time out issue. The crazy part is my husband and I both try and his works but mine won’t. I have tried 10 times to get directions for 200 mile drive and times out every time. I have been consistently having issues with Waze.. used to love but thinking google might be the better one to use. Tried google and worked perfectly. Oh and even purchased a new phone and down loaded the new app and still have issues. Tried a 2 mile location by me and that worked but if doesn’t get fixed for long routes no use for it anymore. Please resolve!!!!

This is the end of Waze if they don’t fix the Server issue for long routes. Other apps have no problems. It use to be a good app but has progressively gotten worse

I'm driving across multiple states, some with toll roads I would like to avoid, Waze has the option to avoid toll roads once it loads a drive. it's not feasible to arbitrarily guess a destination that might be on my route to "break up" my drive and hope I didn't accidently choose one with a toll. Not to mention doing that multiple times throughout a trip adds additional time and could be a safety issue. Plus how far is to far for the server to calculate, am I just supposed to guess what might be to far for the server? This is just disappointing.

It can be very very dangerous when waze times out at a bad time, say at a junction or turn on the route. You need to get waze time outs fixed very soon. Restarting waze in traffic will cause users to be distracted from driving, just like texting, to get waze routing again. Again this is very dangerous and could get someone hurt. Fix waze timeouts ASAP!!!!!!!

We used Waze for the first time today on a 220 mile trip. We got the server timeout as we approached as critical
highway interchange. Nice app otherwise, but this is a major bug. We did the rest of the trip running Waze on my phone and Google maps on my wife's phone for backup.
