"Stop running in the background" switch on iOS
Hi. I found that Waze continues to run and use GPS and 3G signal while backgrounded on the iPhone. This is catastrophic in our country for two reasons: 1. It keeps the phone very hot. 2. it uses data at about 0.15 USD/MB, thereby ticking down your data and using up your money. You have to explicitly turn it off or explicitly quit the app. There should be a switch that says, and is by default, set to "Do not run or use data or GPS in the background". My experience: I used Waze to get to a destination. I backgrounded it and locked my iPhone. I put it on a countertop in a kitchen for two hours. At the end of that period, my ISP warned me that my data bundle was used up and the phone was hot. This is very bad. Please fix.

Very unhappy with this aspect of Waze. I want it to turn off in the background when not in use. What can I do?

I too remember it turned off when the app turned off. Now it sleeps in the background which is highly annoying to me as the voice comes on inadvertently.

My phone will lose 70% of its battery while it's sitting on my desk at work because I used Waze to drive in to work in the morning. This seems to be new, I didn't have this problem before a couple of days ago.

There's an expectation that when an app is in the background it is off in terms of data usage and battery life. Waze breaks this paradigm without a way to configure it to work that way.

I too INSIST that i be able to shut any app completely OFF.. If i cannot do that with Waze, I too will remove it from my phone.
Will anonymous please tell me how he knows that some part of Waze is still running after a forced quit through the Dock ? -

Even when forcing a quit through the Dock, something keeps running in the background... I want to be able to switch that off without uninstalling the app. Off should mean Off. If it doesn't then Waze will be OFF my phone.

When I use the Switch Off function of Waze, I found that it only turns off the navigation and GPS. It will continue to poll the servers until is Force Stopped.
If I have switched off Waze, I do not need to know how many people have thanked me for a report. Switched off should be completely stopped.

When I switch off Waze, I would like it to actually switch off. Part of it continues to run in the background. I have to do a Force Stop to terminate the application. If I do not do that, it will ping the server once in a while, as long as the data connection is turned on.

Add a "Switch Off" shortcut to the Waze program. This shortcut could be added to Home screens for one button ending of the program. It would also allow automation (Locale, Tasker, LLama, etc.) for defining a condition (removed from Car Dock) and action (shortcut Switch Off). This would stop the program without having to remember it's running (may be in background so it's not visible) and pressing a few buttons.

To shut Waze off (no backgrounding) select the lower left icon and then select 'Switch off'.
I actually WANT backgrounding because there's times when you get a phone call, need to change what you're listening to, etc. where you still want WAZE to continue.
