We plan to work on the ability to mark both the start and end of the construction zone in the near future. In the meantime, make sure you’ve got the latest version of Waze for all the latest features.
An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedYou Must be able to mark the beginning and end of a construction zone, it is very dangerous as people do not slow down in time. I see you have said you will not implement this but this is extremely important. In my country almost all roads at some stage have construction that intrudes into the road and it lasts for several days to several months. When reporting construction it must have a "small" or "begin long construction zone" and "end long construction zone", as well as maybe the speed limit change and the time duration. Many construction zones run for months.

An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedIn my view we need the following routing options: a. Left (or right) turns only - to minimise crossing "oncoming" traffic. b. As the crow flies (straightest). c. Minimum turns (even if it is longer). d. Minimum roadworks. e. Minimum traffic. f. Minimum speedbumps (they are seldom correctly marked and damage your car's suspension). g. No dirt roads. h. No toll roads. Currently you only offer dirt/toll avoidance as options, and currently it seems to favour "as the crow flies" which ends up making you perform zigzags through cities. We need more relevant options. I find that just tolerating a traffic jam reduces the number of turns I have to make and generally only wastes 1-2 minutes. I am prepared to take 1-2 minutes longer if I do not have to turn.
An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedQuite often, what I do to avoid your routing algorithm's excessive turns, is I will identify a target turning point on the map and use it as a stopover point on the route, to force waze to minimise turns. I can send you screen shots to show you what I mean.

Thanks for reaching out. John Ostrowick supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedPlease take the above seriously. It was VERY dangerous. The stopped vehicle was stopped IN THE ROAD but the other TWO were stopped on the shoulder. The middle one was NOT the same as the others but Waze assumed it was, and merged it with the LAST one, which made it especially dangerous because you'd not anticipate it due to the road curve.

An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedThe reason for a walking mode (to the naysayers below) is one doesn't want yet another app with yet another interface for the same thing: navigation. I don't use waze ONLY to get around traffic jams; I use it to navigate generally.
For example, I'd really like to be able to tell a friend in a big mall (we have very big malls here), where I am, by sharing my location within waze. Similarly, if I catch a train to another city, and have to walk to my destination, I want to know WHERE IT IS, and waze can tell me that... the traffic conditions aside, I still want to know where it is and how long it will take me to get there.
Lastly, google maps has it. So please implement it (no walkways needed, just the roads are fine).

An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedI preferred the previous arrangement where you could share your drive with ANYONE, via SMS/iMessage, instead of them having to actually be signed in to waze at the time. Now, idiotically, I can't tell my wife how long I'm going to take to get home... why? Because she's not got waze open, signed in, and her life history and private data sold with her soul to you... Lame. Please fix.

An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedPlease let us sign up via Facebook. It's tiresome having to create new accounts with every app out there. I'd rather have a centralised authentication system of some kind. Many blogging sites and news sites let you comment now via your FB profile.

An error occurred while saving the comment John Ostrowick commentedHi. Currently when you search for a destination and try to navigate to it, it seems to use Waze's maps, which seem to be primarily USA-based. So for example I searched for Boksburg, ZA, and it came up with Bossburg, USA. Surely if Waze knows where I am based on my GPS location, it should search destinations nearer to me? I found that the only way I could get directions to Boksburg, ZA was to switch to google maps. Now, Google maps are more thorough and more widely maintained by a larger community. So it really, to my mind, makes no sense at all to use anything other than google maps. Please make this the default, or at least let users select the default map provider in the preferences. (Oh and show the map fullscreen, not this little postage stamp in the middle).

we have a lot of speedbumps and they're badly marked, hard to see, and inconsistent in height. I often hit them at night because they're hard to see. I'd like them all to be marked. ALL. I am happy to do it, if we can have the edit map function turned on in the gps so I can mark them as I drive.
