Add friends without facebook
Why am I forced to use facebook in order to add friends to Waze?? I don't use facebook, 75% of the world's population does not use facebook at all (and more with every day). Is keeping fb afloat Waze's most important purpose?
Anyway, I don't want facebook friends on Waze, I want Waze friends on Waze and facebook friends on facebook, don't try to mix a driving app with a social network.

Agree - I don't use facebook (I have an actual life rather than an online one) and want to simply add family wazers for things like convoy trips - you know, the kind of thing TomTom has had for years now,

I don’t have Facebook. I want friends on waze without creating a Facebook account!

Did Waze reply at all?
Or check this issue? -

Agree completely, FB is a political tool, not a social media platform.

For all who are wondering ... Waze actually expanded the capability to connect to any one in your phone contacts list - you don't have to use the Facebook thing at all. You can share your drives, send locations etc. with anyone you want - the Friends section can just be left completely alone.

If Facebook's endorsement is helping Waze make ends meet then I am all for it, but otherwise, having Waze connect to Facebook friends is something Waze should totally dump and replace. It was a good feeling to be able to connect via Waze with select friends purposefully. This functionality exists slightly through the recent shared contacts that show up when you share a drive, but it would be better for Waze friends to be able to be selected and front and center in the friends portion of the app (and no Facebook!)

Just installed Waze, wanted to add my gf but I find out it's Facebook only. No way. I'll use it solo then.

Most of my Facebook friends are not really my "friends" at all, just people I interface with on Facebook. My Waze friends are on Waze. I don't want to compromise my privacy by revealing to Waze who my Facebook friends are, and vice versa.

Dear WAZE Sir or Ma’am,
I really like your app and enjoy using WAZE; however, FB is losing favor with many and people are distancing themselves from the Social Media giant. How difficult is it for you to “unhook” from them and allow WAZE friends to stand on their own. If one post could open your eyes, let it be this one. Stand on your own two feet “ditch the Berg”. I did on July 4th, 2020 - Freedom from Facebook day.Respectfully,

I used to be able to track my son as he drove in to visit on Waze. I do not use Facebook. How can I track him?

I think you guys are forcing the use of facebook friends to encourage your users to actually try Google Maps... Well played.

I just joined Waze because my sister raves about it and will now be removing my account upon learning that Facebook has to be a part of this. That took all of 15 minutes today...join and delete.
Get smart Waze and listen to the many many people that are not happy with you now. I hope that you get in trouble for crossing some privacy line. -

I agree, waze friends should be stand alone!

It seems to me that Waze wants (or already has) a lucrative contract to share all of our driving habits with Facebook. We all know how much Facebook loves to acquire private information to sell for targeted advertising. I could be wrong, but that's certainly the funky smell I'm getting.
I have friends and family that I would like to connect with on Waze but I don't have a Facebook account and don't believe I should be required to ask my friends and family to sign up for a Facebook account either.

I definitely don't want to use my facebook account to find a few friends I want to connect with. I already know their usernames, so if there'd be a way...

If Waze re-implements friends please do so solely within the Waze ecosystem and without need or reliance on any third party, especially Facebook

I just want to add my wife as a friend on Waze so I can share my location with her as I did google maps she share hers with me. I should be able to enter her Waze ID or username and that is it but NO, I have to login with facebook and get her name from my facebook friends list? Bye Waze, so not using you anymore until you come to your senses and see this is something the public DOES NOT WANT, listen to us because without us using your app you would not be in business.

I used to use Waze over EVERY navigation map and thought the sharing your driving location was genius. What I find not-so-genius is FORCING people to use Facebook to add friends. I'm back at Google and it looks like a lot of other customers. I have people I do not share my Facebook app with, but will share my driving times and locations, I am sure a lot of people will do that for work, and even more people I have on Facebook that I NEVER want to share navigation information, or even know if I am driving, when where, or any information. This should have been a suggestion not a requirement.
For the rest of you sharing your location on other apps is usually easy and you can usually share with anyone and not be forced to join some 3rd party app. Bye Waze. I guess Google bought you to kill the competition, since they now have added things we liked about Waze, and Waze now has things people do not like. -

I choose not to mix Facebook and Waze. My waze friends list disappeared years ago, so this has been a ongoing issue, that waze doesn't seem to be concerned about. Now days I am leaning towards using, removing Waze from my phone and moving to Google maps.
