I wish there was a button to quickly toggle a bird's eye view of the complete route.

I drive for Uber and Lyft 20-40 hours weekly. I don't use WAZE because it lacks an overview toggle, and when driving I can not justify pinching and then expanding the screen again. This is SUCH an obvious oversight in the Waze funtionalit -- FIX it please. I will continue using Google Maps because they DO have an route overview toggle .....

I would like this too - My suggestion is to use the existing lower right button that can 'slide' to the left already for a separate function (I forget off the top of my head) and instead have an option to have it 'slide' up and down along the right edge of the map. it could track the entire navigation route with the slide option (top being the end, bottom being the start)

Agreed. I used to use iGo on my windows mobile and that zoomed out when there were no directions needed within 2 miles so you had a route overview and close up when you needed to do something.
I also like the Google Maps implementation. It requires you to press a button to bring it up and make it go away again but it shows you in the centre bottom of the screen and your destination in the centre top and adjusts the zoom level to keep those two points in the same place. Great for a quick overview.
Ideally an automated version of what Google maps does (If no directions need to be issued within a fixed distance zoom out to overview mode) would be perfect. Something that I have not seen on an android app.
