Higher contrast roads in night mode
When driving at night, I can barely see thin grey roads against the black background. Meanwhile, as I pass roads that need to be verified (chomped), I see all the bright white dots. I'd prefer to have more emphasis on the roads I'm actually using. It's distracting, and distractions when driving, at night no less, are a bad idea!
I have an iPhone 5. Although I have not used waze on other devices, I would assume they have the same color scheme, and thus the same issue.
Alternatively, provide a means to customize the night color scheme like you can for daytime.
Great thinking! The issue you raised has been addressed in a recent redesign. Hope you like it!

Add option to override phone brightness setting to get max brightness on sunny days. Switch to light roads on dark background at night.

It's surprisingly easy to misinterpret audio "left" and "right" words, especially in the noisy car environment. At first I blamed myself, though I have normal to good hearing; but then I noticed that it happens to others sometimes too. The cost of getting it wrong can be very high.
The problem is that both are very short, single-syllable words. The simplest fix I've thought of is to say something near to "leffet" for left. -

Iphone 5. Waze is awesome but I wish it was more like goggle maps. Each app has their strengths and weakness. Simple things like the direction banner is much bigger and clearer (better contrast of the background and the letters of the direction, green and white). The maps themselves are easier on the eyes in google. Even though I know there are different theme choices in waze. Most importantly the direction given in google maps are more anticipatory and specific. I know that google has purchased waze and I hope that the strength of each app can be utilized.

It took me 10 minutes to find "All reports" because of the poor contrast. Same goes for settings button. ALSO, BT TO CAR SPEAKER DOES NOT WORK WITH GALAXY S4!!!! Please fix with update. Used to work with iPhone so it's not the car. Switched to S4, no matter what I do the sound will not go to car speakers. Thank you.

Add a chime IN and chime OUT sound when someone is checking status of your arrival.
Also, because the indicator is yellow with white numbers its hard to see how many are really checking. Change the contrast. Darker number with yellow background.
