Need shortest route and quickest route, not the same

I prefer Waze for routes with real-time road updates, but I still often check Google maps as it always highlights the most fuel efficient route (usually just shortest). I'd like if Waze could always show the shortest route.

I would really appreciate if Waze brings back the ‘Shortest route’ option. For EV drivers like me, sometimes minimizing distance is more important than saving a few minutes, because it helps conserve battery and avoid unnecessary range anxiety. Please consider adding this choice back — time is not always the only factor for navigation

I don't want Waze to reroute me after choosing the shortest route, even if the trip duration is longer.

These aren’t minor tweaks we’re asking for — we’re talking about features like the ‘Shortest Route’ option, which has been requested for years and still hasn’t materialized.

Despite thousands of votes, comments, and persistent user feedback, it feels like our voices are being ignored. It’s hard not to feel disheartened when essential ideas are buried under silence. Waze’s apparent reluctance to engage with its users makes the platform feel stagnant and disconnected from the needs of real drivers.

This goes beyond convenience — it’s about fuel efficiency, affordability, sustainability, and user trust. The fastest route isn’t always the shortest or most economical, and with fuel prices continuing to rise, we need smarter choices.

Adding a ‘Shortest Route’ option would:

Please bring this back! I have a weekend car that I would like to minimize the mileage and depreciation of. I try to get around this by turning on avoid highway, but it's not always accurate.

YES, Another great idea by a Wazer. I know the roads and even redlight timing and bay know a better route than the 3 options. I would love to touch another road to see route, traffic.

Right now, I go where I know is faster/easier, and then I look at "routes" again. Annoying work around.

Add button (next to one used to add Hazards, Police etc) which brings up a menu of options (like those under “what do you see?”) which enable you to quickly select (when already en route) 1) shortest route 2) quickest route 3) Avoid tolls [on/off] 4) Avoid motorways [on/off].

You say (in response to this suggestion elsewhere) that it doesn’t fit with the app screen…but a simple extra button with these sub-menus would. The removal of shortest/quickest route is mental (and a step backwards)…one route suggested I drive 62 miles more to save 2 minutes compared to shortest route! Please add this button (which can have its sub-menus amended according to other suggestions).

Some time even though a route is longer. It could be fastest via a highway.

And other time you just want to get in and get out.

Shortest route for EVs it's very important. Would like to have the option to find the most direct and short way from point A to B. Thanks.

I sometimes need fastest route when I travel and need to get to the airport.

Please bring it back, this is the only reason I installed waze in the first place!
