Banner notifications
I would be great if a banner notification would show if the app was running in the background and a turn was approaching. Apple maps does this, and if Waze did it, there would be no reason to use Apple maps ever again.

Can't believe this is 3.5 years old for such an obvious feature. It's the reason I do not use Waze.

I would also really value this feature! I often drive with "Alerts Only" sound mode, so having banners displayed when the app is not showing on the screen would be extremely useful!

Google Maps does this as well. I find myself using Apple/Google Maps more and Waze less just because of this capability.

Google Maps on iOS does this also.
I find myself preferring Google Maps or Apple Maps lately over Waze because I can get turn-by-turn banner notifications from them even when they are in the background.

Android - Add Directions in Notifications / Status bar
In Google Navigation when you drop down the status bar / notifications area it give you the next step in your navigation. This is very handy when you want to quickly access your next turn. In Waze all that is in notification is the ability to get into waze and shut down which requires more steps. Please add this important safe driving feature.
