To have options to report unsafe areas (Eg.South Africa - Riots) so that tourists and people unaware don't drive into said areas
I am from South Africa and unfortunately we often have riots and there are areas that aren't safe to drive. It would be good to have an option that allows this to be highlighted or reported (as we do with traffic) so people that are unaware don't intentionally drive into dangerous areas.

It would be good to have a suburb notification that users upvote to mark it as dangerous...1000 votes and then make it an option to avoid? It also helps me as a tourist in a new city

In light of the escalation of crime and violence in South Africa please assist by warning users of any public violence- looting, rioting, known gang areas, crime hotspots for hijacking etc etc

Unsafe areas are a very good plan. Often wave takes me right into dodgy areas to avoid traffic

Please Waze, your app saves me from traffic on a daily basis. Please now save our lives by preventing us from driving into danger.

“Unsafe area”a great idea - places locals would avoid...
Areas of unrest or protest/rioting
Also smoke on road... lots of bush fires in the winter here

That’s a great idea! It would certainly be very helpful in South Africa and I am sure in many other places too.

Hi
I use Waze daily both at home and in all the countries I visit and I introduced my family in South Africa to Waze too.
South Africa, like many countries these days have a high crime rate with hijackings (of cars), hold-ups (holding up drivers at gun point at traffic lights), Smash and grab (smashing car windows and grabbing valuables at traffic lights).
People (especially tourists) use Waze to navigate unfamiliar places and I have often found myself in an usafe area when following Waze navigation. This was brought home to me on Monday this week when I received a call that my daughter had been held up at gunpoint when she had to go to a meeting (in broad daylight). She had used Waze to find the venue and it had taken her through an area that she wasn't aware was a high crime area. Fortunately she was not harmed but is now traumatized and scared to drive.
I would like to make a suggestion to add a crime warning to the Waze app. It could be added like the police/pothole/roadworks/traffic jam button, to warn drivers, unfamiliar with areas that the area is unsafe, and like the traffic jam it could indicate the type of crime.
Many lives are lost to random violent acts and perhaps Waze could be instrumental in helping to keep drivers safe.
