Day / Night detemination in New Zealand
Day / Night / Auto mode observation: I am in New Zealand. I have noticed that the waze iOS app thinks that it is night time until 12noon when Waze suddenly realises that it is the middle of the day and that it should really be displaying day time mode.
This suggests to me that the algorithm associated with determining day/night time is not properly considering timezones.
The apps should be taking local time, and only local time to determine day/night mode. And allowinging in sunride/sunset should be region sensitive.
The fact that it currently changes at 12noon does suggest that it is looking at the date, or comparing with GMT or someother timezone when working out if it is day or night.
Come on guys this is not rocket science!
