Flock camera system license plate reader locations
Allow users to map locations of police automatic license plate readers and select routes that avoids them.
The Flock automatic license plate readers are now in over 2500 cities in the United States and track 1 billion vehicles per month per their website. They are able to detect the color of your car, wether or not part of your plate is obscured, if the registered owner has a valid drivers license, is a gang member, known drug smuggler, has an active warrant and other such information. Flock sells these to home owners association's and other private entities besides law enforcement. When attached with their Raven gun shot detection system it also is able to identify gunshot locations, broken glass and tires screeching. Our right to privacy is being destroyed. If off the grid individuals wish to not be recorded, they should have the ability to transit around these camera systems.

Better yet partner with DeFlockMe to use their data

This would def bring me back to Waze. These cameras are morally wrong and we deserve to know where they are

It is absolutely important to know where those flock cameras have. Way more than the World Cup score or whatever random Wendy’s ad.

I would much rather be told where flock cameras are instead of the score of a soccer game that I couldn't give two ***** about.

Not interested - if you add this, please make it opt-in, too many alerts as it is.

This is an extremely important feature to have.

This is the sort of feature that would bring me back as a Waze user

This is essential. These cameras are an overreach and there is no reason to have a private entity with all that information.

Being able see these LPRs would be amazing but being able to generate a route that avoids these altogether would be a game changer! Deadlock.org has a database and so does the Flockhopper app. User could also contribute to add locations.

Need ability for users to flag and editors to verify/add.

Deflock.me is a map/possible source for map points. I LOVE THIS IDEA of integrating the FLOCK MAP into waze. This is in the same spirit as Waze started 15 or so years ago when it made headlines touting its ability to locate speed traps. It might not be a bad idea to make headlines again about the presence of unnecessary surveillance.

I’m with everybody else who has commented so far. Once you know what those little boxes look like, you can spot them pretty easily. And they’re in places you wouldn’t expect, and there’s more of them than you would expect. All owned by a private corporation that makes billions of dollars a year selling data to pretty much anybody with money. They say only law-enforcement and government, but there have been undercover investigations where the company owners have explained how to create a shell company in a country that does not have restrictions on the purchase of such data. They are as bad as Palantir.

Has anyone addressed the license plate reader request? There are many facial recognition cameras in similar locations just the same! I guarantee that if everyone knew about these systems being in place, people would be angry.

We can add red light cameras and get warnings while using WAZE, we should be able to log licence plate readers and see warnings for these as well.

let us add them

I will happily contribute to locations of these cameras. They are everywhere and most locations are very very sneaky that most people have no idea.
