I have a big problem with how you're made aware of detours when navigating with Waze - namely, not at all. It just selects the route and when you start navigation it says that route XY is shorter than XY. If you now drive a familiar route and you only have the navigation on for convenience, you're simply told that you should leave the highway if there's a traffic jam, but you don't find out the reason. This is very confusing. Normally, the announcement should be something like, "Traffic jam ahead, please exit in X kilometers to take a detour." Several times now, despite the announcement that I should leave, I simply drove on and then stood in a traffic jam. I was confused about the announcement, because I wasn't given a reason, but I know the route and know that you normally don't leave the highway here, so I missed the exit.
More information about the exact reasons for certain prompts would be quite desirable. I don't know how the navigation is in English, but in German the information is very mediocre for traffic jam announcements.
