Search bar on Waze app when using Android auto
When using Android auto, Waze app on the phone is disabled except for popping up with the search bar to enable phone-typing of addresses. Could you add the search bar on the "Using Waze on Android Auto" screen by default on the phone app to make it quicker to get to the phone keyboard instead of having to first click search on Android auto and then being redirected to the phone to type addresses

Yes pls enable search on Mobile App while AA is running, it is a big hassle having to type in the car's screen!

When connected to Android Auto, the app doesn't allow any typing or options on the mobile. The car screen's keyboard isn't very reliable and takes too much time to input words and the search results also show up too slow for any comfort at all.
Please let the app have it's search bar, keyboard and other options available even while connected to Android Auto. I'm a professional driver using apps like Uber etc and this is my favourite app for navigation, but this disability is taking a lot of joy and time out of my workflow. Please, let us have this option 🙏 -

I have lost many addresses that I typed into waze before getting into my car, and when android auto connects automatically, my address dissappears and I have to go find it again and at that point you have to input it on the auto screen. Waze doesn't have the greatest address/name search comparatively so this is actually a major fault of the app. Please allow us to search and route on our phone, even when connected to android auto. (This is a huge advantage google maps has over waze)

Several friends of mine with an android phone refuse to use Waze because of this. They want to drive with Android Auto so theyre using alternatives.

It would be nice to be able to use the mobile app while connected to android auto. Why?
Because, not every car support long click on their screen, at least on mine I cannot (ford focus stline 2024), and not having this action, make it impossible to select a destination using android auto without searching for that specific place, for example, sometime the only information that I have is a reference from the destination, and after I search for it, I can drag the map to find my real destination. But, because I can't long click, I'm required to search in the search box for the destination, which is really annoying, specially if the search result returns multiple findings, now I have to find out which one is the one I need. But remember that in first place, I was already there, it was in front of me, but I couldn't click on it.And, the mobile app doesn't allow me to use it, displaying a message saying that waze is being used by android auto. Why I can't use mobile app to set destination to android auto app? it's easier to use, and more user friendly, and the user can use the show in map option to be able to just click on another street near by the searched one.
Right now the work around that I'm using is to disconnect from android auto, set my destination on mobile app, the reconnect to android auto, which loads the destination set on the mobile app. But you can imagine the frustration while doing all these steps

Hi!
I am using the latest android auto (with wire) and Waze in my AlfaRomeo Giulia 2019 car. My car is NOT equiped with a touchscreen, so I have to type the characters one by one with a built in wheel (like BMW iDrive). This process is really slow and awful and can be dangerous. Unfortunately, I am not able to use Waze app on my phone, while it is connected to my car. (Phone Waze UI is disabled while android auto is active.) If I want to type in an address, I have to unplug my phone wait a few seconds, then I can open Waze on phone, I can type the address, then I can plug my phone again. This process (workaround) is not so great...Can you please consider that if the car is NOT equiped with a touchscreen, users will be able to use the phone's Waze UI to type in the address. (Like AppleCarplay)
I am waiting for your response!
Thank you,
Gergo -

Why can't I manually input an address in Waze on Android Auto? It doesn't matter if I am stopped, parked, or driving. The search box doesn't show up anytime when I am using the app!!!

When using Android auto, the search box should always be visible or displayed at the touch of a button
