Driving Side Assistance
Proposed Feature: Driving Side Assistance for International Travelers
Objective:
To assist drivers who are traveling abroad in adapting to driving on the opposite side of the road from their home country. This feature aims to enhance safety and reduce confusion for drivers from countries like the UK who are traveling to countries like the USA.
Key Features:
Home Location Recognition:
The app identifies the user's home country based on GPS data or user input. For example, if the user’s home location is the UK, the app notes that the user is accustomed to driving on the left side of the road.
Destination Recognition:
When the user enters a country where driving is on the opposite side of the road (e.g., the USA), the app automatically activates the Driving Side Assistance feature.
Visual Assists:
Directional Arrows: On the navigation screen, directional arrows will guide the driver to stay on the correct side of the road, particularly at intersections, roundabouts, and junctions.
Exit Guides: For roundabouts, the app will display clear visual cues to ensure the driver exits in the correct direction.
Audible Alerts:
Side of Road Alert: If the app detects that the driver is on the wrong side of the road, it will emit a beep and provide an audible warning (e.g., “Please move to the right side of the road”).
Turn Reminders: Before making turns, the app will remind the driver of the correct side to turn onto (e.g., “Turn right, stay on the right side”).
On-screen Notifications:
Constant Reminders:
Small, non-intrusive on-screen notifications reminding the driver which side of the road to stay on.
Speed Adjustments:
Notifications that adapt to different driving speeds, ensuring that alerts are timely and appropriate for the driving context.
Customizable Settings:
Users can customize the intensity and frequency of visual and audible alerts.
Option to enable or disable specific types of reminders based on user preference.
