Context-Aware Voice Instructions
To improve the clarity and relevance of voice instructions in Waze, I propose integrating advanced contextual awareness into the navigation system. This feature would include:
Detailed Contextual Cues
1. Landmark-Based Instructions:
• Incorporate landmarks and notable points of interest into navigation prompts. For example, “Once you go past the Costa Coffee on your right, prepare to turn right” or “After you pass the second set of traffic lights, switch to the left lane and prepare for a left turn.”
2. Milestone Guidance:
• Provide instructions based on specific milestones in the journey. For instance, “Continue straight until you reach the large intersection by the gas station, then turn left.”
Dynamic Instructional Enhancements
1. Sequential Directions:
• Offer sequential guidance for complex maneuvers. For example, “Prepare to switch to the left lane as you approach the traffic lights, and then make a left turn immediately after the lights.”
2. Adaptive Details:
• Adjust the level of detail based on driving conditions and user preferences, such as providing extra cues in busy or unfamiliar areas.
Enhanced Turn-by-Turn Notifications
1. Clear Action Reminders:
• Include clear reminders of upcoming actions with context, such as “In 500 meters, move to the left lane and then turn left at the next intersection, right after passing the bank on your right.”
Visual and Auditory Synchronisation
1. Synchronise Visual and Auditory Cues:
• Ensure that visual instructions on the map align with auditory instructions, providing a cohesive and understandable navigation experience. For instance, as the app announces “Turn right at the next intersection,” the map should clearly highlight the turn location and nearby landmarks.
