Speed Camera Audio Alerts should be User not Community Choice
It seems there is a lack of clarity regarding Speed Camera Audio Alerts and how they are triggered.
From what I can tell, audio alerts for speed cameras are a "community" choice, meaning that an audio alert will only be played given a number of conditions:
Depending on where you live - Your "community" decides what the threshold should be, that is if you are currently travelling at the speed limit or below, some communities will trigger the audio alert. Some communities require you to be travelling over the speed limit before the audio alert it triggered.
Also apparently there is a setting for cameras in the map editor that allows to populate the speed camera. If this is set to 0 the audio is always triggered.
It is questionable that the visual trigger is always activated regardless of what speed the user is going and this is potentially a visual distraction especially if no audio alert is played. Surely it is far safer to audibly relate this information rather than have the user check something pop up on the screen while driving or to keep checking every so often to see if the visible speed camera alert has popped on the screen.
These settings are not made clear by Waze and feel there needs to be a bit more transparency regarding about how the audio speed camera audio alerts work. It is all very confusing and leads to the conclusion that the app doesn't work correctly, when in fact it does, but is a setting related to a "Community" choice.
I won't get into detail about who I think the "Community" might be, maybe this a legal requirement depending on where you live, but again this needs to be more transparent.
