Train crossings and train stoppage.
Okay, I thought your app had everything until today. I ran into a slow train crossing. This is a difficult one because trains are there and then not there. I would like the ability to report trains and maybe speed/length in general terms. Then there are the trains that just stop on the crossing for an extended amount of time. Those would be very helpful to report. But, at least being able to report the train is crossing and direction of movement will help people I think.
Railroad crossing alerts are now available in Waze.

It's absolutely ridiculous that there isn't a way to even get around this. If you're in an area you basically just don't know, and there's a train that's going to take so long that it's not even worth waiting for, it doesn't matter if there's a highway nearby that is way faster than waiting for a train for 30 minutes to an hour. The app just isn't going to tell you and keep telling you that you're route that is completely blocked is still the fastest way, and you're either going to have to just figure that out yourself or wait for this train that doesn't ever seem to end, because like that's what is happening if you were in one of the areas I used to deliver for. I guess they just put every train imaginable in this one area, and even if I don't know why, even though we all totally do, it just doesn't benefit anyone to not know how to even get around a train that you can't even mark as in front of you at all, because you can attempt to say that there's standstill traffic in that one road you're at out of the other dozens of roads also blocked by the same train, or you could also attempt to mark that road as closed, but imagine you do that and it still tries to take you down the next road nearby that is also blocked by the same exact train, so like why even bother, because that's not even the proper use, marking a road as closed even if it's just blocked by something that is not an accident or a traffic jam. I mean I would rather just stop delivering anything in that area, because this kind of thing doesn't even just put the people living there at a disadvantage, but it also messes with the people who don't even live there, because those are the people who are not even going to know how to get around this kind of thing more than the people who are actually familiar with that area and grew up there.

I love that the Waze team says RR crossing alerts are active, but that’s not what this post was about. I came here to suggest adding the ability to flag active RR tracks, as I live next to a VERY active one where a delay can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 2+HOURS on a one lane road. This needs to be updated with the ACTUAL suggestion to allow live re-routing to avoid these delays and let others be aware.

I live by multiple train crossings and would love this feature. A reroute and a calculation on average time for a train would be helpful.

I live near multiple train crossings. I agree with Todd's suggestion. I get stuck at trains that have totally stopped on the track. Sometimes they are there for 30 minutes or more. It would be very helpful to know when I should reroute a different way.

A train icon in traffic icons would be so helpful.

Just by penalizing routes with a train cross with say... 5 minutes should be enough. No need to know the train schedule, that will effectively choose bridges or tunnels instead unless they are really packed

Trains should be relatively predictable after having a few people report a train waze should predict down to the half hour

I live near several level train crossings - a feature to account for trains needs to be added. I really like Todd's idea.

It will be really helpfull to have the possibility to set the option to avoid train crossing. Even if the route is the fastest sometimes if the level crossing is closed you loose a lot of time!

Just marking on the map that it is a train crossing would suit me, possibly the type of crossing, lights, gates flat or on a hill maybe some crossings aren't gated but just have lights. So would be useful to know!
Could report crossing in use crossing disused?

Could really use this kind of feature. Invariably, the fastest routes seem to be the ones that cross the railroad tracks directly. With only a couple of tunnels under the tracks and a bridge or two over the tracks, getting to work on time can be a major issue. If GPSing trains is not possible, is there a way that presumed train schedules could be taken into account when navigating? At least the AI could have a decent shot at telling us to take a bridge route.

Really need this!
I live in Houston, TX and despite being "only" 3rd largest in population, we are the largest geographically and still have mosty street level train tracks. The delay can easily be 20 minutes and some off these crossings have trains passing once an hour. Vital to know when to detour....
A real time update as to when the crossing clears would make this a very powerful feature. -

I work by a train station and exactly what she said, happens. They will sit there for 20 mins, sometimes even longer. So it would be great if those were reported, that way I can take a better route to work! I have been late many times because of the train. They do this MANY times a day! This would be helpful!

Please add train in the traffic category. Maybe you can be automatically remove the report a min after the person who reported the train moves pass the crossing.
