Suggestion to Integrate Historical Street Name Information into Waze
Dear Waze Team,
My name is Avichai Simchi, and I am a graphic designer and UX/UI designer.
I would like to share an idea that could add significant cultural and experiential value to Waze users: incorporating brief historical explanations about street names during navigation.
Many streets in Israel are named after meaningful historical figures and events—heroes, cultural leaders, milestones in Jewish and Zionist history. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the stories behind these names.
I believe Waze has a unique opportunity to bring our collective history to life during users' everyday journeys, strengthening their connection to Israeli and Jewish identity.
As a UX/UI designer, I have created a visual mockup of how this idea could be implemented seamlessly—without disrupting the navigation experience. For example, when stopping at a traffic light or passing a street, a small bubble could appear with a short note like:
"HaHadrakha Street – named after the youth movement leadership system that shaped the future leaders of the State of Israel."
I’d truly appreciate your consideration of this idea. I believe it can turn each ride into not only a functional experience—but a meaningful one.
Sincerely,
Avichai Simchi

I’ve also created a visual mockup to demonstrate the concept. Unfortunately, I can't attach it directly here, but I’d be happy to share it upon request or through any preferred channel.
