Tapping this icon would instantly display the fastest routes to the nearest Emergency Rooms (Hospitals) and public Defibrillators (AED locations) relative to the driver's current position, without needing to type anything.Why it's important:During a medical emergency while driving (e.g., a passenger experiencing sudden cardiac arrest or severe trauma), every single second counts.Drivers under extreme stress often struggle to type text or search through regular category menus.Quick access to a public defibrillator (AED) can save lives before medical services arrive.Precedent exists: Waze has already successfully implemented a similar crisis-response feature by adding a dedicated search icon for public bomb shelters. Expanding this framework to include medical emergencies is a natural and highly impactful next step for community safety.How it should work:A small, recognizable emergency icon (such as a medical shield or a heart-AED symbol) could be placed alongside or in the same manner as the current Shelter Search Icon.Clicking it would bypass the standard search keyboard and immediately show a split list or map pins of:Nearest Hospitals with Emergency Departments.Nearest publicly accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs).The user can start navigating with a single tap.
