The Problem:
Currently, Waze only offers a binary approach to voice prompts:Full Instructions speaks too frequently and interrupts audio/calls.
Less Chatty provides insufficient guidance (often right before the junction), not leaving enough time to safely change lanes in heavy traffic.
Proposed Solution:
Introduce custom controls or distance thresholds for Voice Guidance:Allow users to set a preferred lead-distance preference (e.g., "Announce turns 500m/300ft before junction").
Add granular toggles for specific prompt types (e.g., "Street names ON", "Highway lane guidance ON", but "Routine straight-ahead confirmations OFF").
Why this helps:
Gives drivers full control over audio interference while providing adequate advance warning for turns, improving both user satisfaction and road safety.
