Stop routing traffic inappropriately
I am contacting everyone at Waze right now. Waze is causing problems.
Highway 17 from San Jose to Santa Cruz is notorious for its beach traffic. Waze directing traffic thought downtown Los Gatos and on to mountain side roads to avoid this.
STOP DOING THIS!
First of all this is causing horrendous gridlock in downtown Los Gatos. The town has put up signs telling Beach Traffic to stick to Highway 17. Drivers are ignoring this because Waze gives tells them they can cut thru Los Gatos. This is causing MASSIVE problems.
Second, DON'T direct people off Hwy 17 on to the mountain roads! It is obvious these people DON'T know how to drive on them. They need to stay on 17 if they are not experienced on these winding two lane roads. They either drive too slow of constantly cross the center line. 17 is a MUCH safer option for them.
This is becoming a black eye for Waze. The mountain social media is full of complaints Waze need to do something to correct this immediately.

Drivers using this site to try and save a few minutes is VERY dangerous to all. Stop posting directions on residential streets, narrow streets and winding roads.

Bottom line this is a safety issue. People cannot get in and out during an emergency, because residential streets are blocked with crawling traffic. My wife is 9 months pregnant and I am praying she doesn't go into labor on a Saturday or Sunday, so we don't have to fight traffic just to get out of our driveway and across town to the hospital.

I live on what it typically a quiet street and am unable to leave or get back to my house for five hours on each of Saturday and Sunday. It is kind of awful.

We are unable to drive downtown on weekends.

This really impacts everyone in Los Gatos. We can no longer visit downtown on weekends, our wonderful restaurants and stores are empty because their customers can no longer get to them because of the traffic situation. As many other have mentioned we have had medical emergencies where emergency vehicles can not reach people in need. This needs to be stopped. There is a highway that is built for beach access. Please stop recommending people to try to go through our little beautiful town. We want it back!

We live off Los Gatos Blvd, and cannot leave our area to run any Saturday errands, as we hit gridlock in most every street in Los Gatos between Lark Blvd. and all of Downtown (the S 17 on ramp, from Santa Cruz Avenue). The rerouting makes the traffic gridlock for ALL, the Town cannot be accessed for business by anyone, the residents cannot move anywhere for functions (soccer games, errands, etc.) and everyone is frustrated. It might SEEM like it is a shortcut, it is not. thank you.

Agree! The local traffic is horrible on weekends now. Miserable for residents who either get trapped in their neighborhood or can't get home due to the gridlock. And scary to think how difficult it is for emergency services to navigate in these conditions.

I live near Santa Cruz Avenue/Winchester. Beach traffic makes it impossible to access this street from our neighborhood. Is there no consideration for Los Gatos citizens who are trying to support businesses on Santa Cruz Avenue!!

Yeah, stop it. You're causing major gridlock in our town and emergency vehicles (not to mention everyone else) can't even navigate in the town on weekends.

Waze, you are creating dangerous situations in Los Gatos
Mainly
Emergency vehicles are being blocked by the gridlock traffic!
I personally calculated and tracked time for Fire Dept to get to an emergency on Sund rd recently through Pulse Point, it took 40 minutes for help to arrive for those who needed it!
By removing the so call "short cut through our town" you will be potentially saving lives and homes.
Take a moment to think about the positive impact you can create by doing so -

Routing traffic through Los Gatos from 17 turns the town roads into a parking lot which ends up being far slower for beach traffic and creating a huge headache for the town. Please Stop!!

WAZE and Google Maps need to stop routing traffic through Los Gatos community streets as the jams are impacting the drivers & communities. It impacts the drivers because they have false hopes to get around a jam, but this jam on HWY 17 is unavoidable. Drivers could know to turn around and give up if they knew they were in for a multi hour and increasing jam. The community can not function either on tiny short streets filled with more cars than it can handle. The children have been hurt. The business are hurt. The drivers are enraged. Our community is gridlocked and for no good reason. WAZE & Google, please adjust your maps and STOP this practice.

Please stop!! It does not save time going through our neighborhoods, I think it actually is longer. Our neighborhoods have become parking lots!!! I am speaking for the Gken Ridge area also.
