North up changes desperately needed
I am trying to use Waze with the map displayed in the direction I’m actually going, North Up, Because with the map always moving what is actually North to just keep my direction always going towards the top of the screen one loses all perspective on where things are. When one would read a paper map one would always keep the map north up, that way you could always learn your relative position to other places. Separate "Show compass" from "Always show map controls"
It is 2024-04-03 now. Some time ago the "Show compass" option disappeared from "Settings" / "Map display" / "Quick access". Now the compass is shown on the map only when "Always show map controls" is enabled. The old behavior was better. The new behavior adds unnecessary clutter.
My goal is to see an information. I have no intention on controlling the map while driving, so map controls are useless for me.
Please restore old behavior.

Remove background colour from street names
Hi
Could you please remove the colour at street names and make it very clear so we can see the turns and roundabout. Most of the time it's appear at turns so we get confused which exit on roundabout we have to take. It totally vanished the roundabout Most of the time. Display the name of the city below that of the street you are on. (To avoid having to zoom out the map while driving)

Remove Blue Tinted Night Mode
The new updated changes the base color of the map when engaged in night mode. This map is extremely hard to read in dark conditions, and the overall color scheme is unpleasant. The original night mode used an all gray color scheme. Please allow user to revert back to the original or remove it all together!

Speed indicator
When the phone is in landscape mode, the speed indicator can be sometimes hidden by the lanes indicator when it pops up.
Is it possible to put the speed indicator on the foreground or move it when it is hidden under another object?

Showing lane signs even without navigation
Sometimes you drive without navigation and reach an intersection where some of the lanes go in different directions, and because of the road conditions the signs are hidden and it is impossible to understand which lane to choose.
It would be useful if the directions of travel in each lane were displayed on the screen, as there is during navigation but without highlighting any lane.3 votes -

Seasonal car icon
Last night I changed my car icon to be the bulldozer, my children have suggested it should be carrying pumpkins instead of tomatoes at this time of year and maybe Christmas puds in December.

Adding parking bays/ lay-bys onto the map
It would be really helpful to be able to see parking bays / lay-bys on the maps. We have a young baby and often have to find somewhere for a quick pit stop and sometimes miss parking areas as they aren’t on maps or well signposted - this can make the situation even more stressful

To posibility to see arriving time to final destination instead of waypoint
Many times I add waypoint to get route which I prefer. Most of time I'm not interested when I arrive to waypoint but when I arrive to final destination. Sometimes arriving time to waypoint is important so I think it should be easily chosen on display (also in android auto).

Hide search bar
I keep seeing this response to multiple users about the search bar that does not go away: “ Thanks for the suggestion. Search bar automatically hides after around 30 seconds driving without navigation”. The bar does NOT go away after 30 seconds. It takes me 20 minutes to drive to work, and it will not go away. Highlight 2 lane roads that have infrequent passing zones
There are several spots between Victorville, CA, and SR-145 that are only two lanes, one each way. My suggestion is to highlight/identify the sections or roads that are no-pass zones. Roads like this, where there me several miles between passing lanes? Change the color to flashing read, or something. ;-)

Fix the bug where you can't change mood and still appear as newbie despite driving hundreds of miles
I'm unable to change mood despite travelling hundreds of miles. Still displaying as 'newbie'. This is a long standing issue - I've seen it in forums over 5 years old.

Get rid of new hamburger menu icon, put functionality back into search screen
New hamburger menu icon doesn't need to be there. Takes up too much space for rarely used functionality. Put settings and stuff back into the search screen. The idea to move that into a totally new icon was bad.
Want to add something useful to the map?
Add a "favorites" icon where when it opens we can have one-tap reporting for report features I use the most- cops, roadkill, traffic - instead of digging around in the reporting screen.
Also, should be able to EXIT waze by swiping from the right edge a couple times.
