COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACE
COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACE
I suggested a communication system using an app, like Waze or Google Maps, which would allow those in a disaster area, including inhabitants, builders, and construction workers, to have access to current and site-specific traffic conditions and other relevant safety information. If WAZE agreed to set up such a program, everyone who uses the app could send and receive information on it. If it works well, it could become a pilot program for other disaster or emergency situations anywhere in the nation -- such as fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, gas leaks, major police activity, etc.I am a member of the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) Logistics & Traffic ATF established to finding optimal solutions for the rebuilding of the Pacific Palisades community after the disastrous fire that completely destroyed our city in January 2025.
A central component of the framework is the formation of PPCC Advisory Task Forces (ATFs) to ensure broad community representation, coordinated action, and consistent communication. The ATFs will provide community-based analysis and recommendations on recovery and rebuilding to the PPCC through a Community Recovery Coordination Council (CRCC), which is responsible for organizing and coordinating the overall framework.I believe that it would be an enormous advantage to establish a communication program that will allow those in the disaster area including the inhabitants, the builders, the equipment contractors, the construction workers to have access to the most current site-specific traffic conditions as well as other relevant safety information. With WAZE as the anchor of this program, one could include direct information for and from everyone that uses the application. I realize that it is not something that now exists but it would be something for which we could be a pilot program and be used for fire, Tsunami, earthquake, gas leak, major police activity throughout the nation in the future.

Go back to spoken alerts.
It is the opposite of safe that I have to take my eyes off the road to look at the screen to find out what an alert bell is about. And if I do not look the alert bell is essentially worthless. Go back to spoken alerts.

Unmarked police car option for map reporting
Where I live, there are unmarked police cars who are using radar guns to send tickets to people in the mail. Please add an “unmarked police car” option to the reporting menu so people can have the distinction.

UI Improvement for exiting to parallel/marginal roads (Visual Transition Zone)
Hi Waze team!
I would like to suggest a UI improvement regarding maneuvers where the driver needs to exit a main expressway to enter a parallel/marginal road.
The Problem: Currently, when the route requires leaving the main road for a parallel one, the standard purple route line often blends in with the main road on the map. Because the roads are right next to each other, it can be very confusing to determine the exact moment to switch lanes and take the exit, often leading to missed turns.
The Proposed Solution (as seen in the attached image): Create a distinct visual highlight for the “transition zone.” My suggestion is to have the route line change color (e.g., from purple to a bright orange/yellow, as illustrated) or become significantly thicker for about 300 meters before and 300 meters after the exit.
This would provide drivers with immediate, intuitive visual feedback that the upcoming maneuver is a transition to a parallel road, making it much easier to navigate safely without second-guessing the map.
Thank you for your time and for the great work on the app!

Truck map
Hi Waze. It would be a great idea if you could make maps for Trucks. Bridge height, bridge weight restrictions , length restrictions. Truck stops are not priority but would be nice to have. I use car play in my 40t truck with Waze but I use tom tom too, but I don’t Like TomTom. Sadly I have no choice but to use it 😂

Please just show a free driving map without written directions
When you force a listing of written directions or force us to enter a destination, it is annoying and prevents me from seeing the map allowing me to use free driving by the map routes. I do not like driving my car by written directions. I want only to see the map of where I am and drive to wherever I am going.
I really hope this posted feedback matters, but I don't feel that the developers of this app really care about things written here. When this app first came out, it was excellent. Now it is a real pain to use it.
If some people want written directions to a destination, then that should be an option to select in the app.
If people just want to drive seeing the map only, then that should be an option.
What you are doing now forcing us to enter a destination before driving and stopping us from seeing the map really is a major negative for using the Waze app.
I wish Waze would go back to the days when we just pulled up the app, and it showed us the map and where we are on it while we drove to wherever we were going.
The way things are in using the Waze app is useless to those of us who just want to see the map while we drive. When you force a listing of written directions or force us to enter a destination, it is annoying and prevents me from seeing the map allowing me to use free driving by the map routes. Separate Voice Options For Voice Reporting
Currently there are voice options that don't come with the "with street names text" When using said voice options, voice reporting becomes unavailable.
It would be great if there was a setting provided that could allow users to set separate voice options for voice reporting. This would allow users who can't go without voice reporting to be able to play around with different voices.

Still There - Not There buttons in Waze
For the Still There and Not There buttons in Waze, having the buttons next to each other is an issue as you have heard. My suggestion would be to have Still There on the top, the notification reason (Police Ahead, Construction, Accident) in the middle and Not There on the bottom. Because the notification reason is not a button that can be selected this layout would help the issue of hitting the wrong button by accident.

It would be nice if Waze could tell you the destination is on the right or left instead of just saying "You have arrived ".

construction zone stays until construction finishes option
add start/end date option for long-term construction zones
Many road construction and lane reduction projects remain active for days or weeks, but Waze temporary reports disappear after only a few hours.
This creates a major issue because users must repeatedly re-report the same construction zone every day, and once the alert disappears Waze begins routing traffic directly through that delayed area again.
Example: if a city construction sign clearly states lane closure or road work for 30 days, users should be able to submit a construction report with an optional expiration date or duration.
Suggested improvement:
Allow users or map editors to choose:
• construction active today only
• active for 3 days
• active for 7 days
• active until selected end dateThis would help Waze keep routing accurate during long-term lane reductions, prevent unnecessary traffic backups, and avoid sending drivers into known 5 to 15 minute lineup zones once daily reports expire.
This would be especially useful in growing cities with constant utility and roadwork projects.
