Suggestions for Improving Waze Navigation Features
Dear Waze Team,
First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude and congratulations for the great and valuable services Waze provides to society, making a significant contribution to urban mobility, road safety, and the optimization of the daily journeys of millions of users around the world.
Furthermore, I would like to present the following suggestions, which are offered solely as recommendations for potential improvements to your services.
Based on the example of the TomTom app, I would like to suggest the following features for Waze:
- A Traffic Events and Points of Interest Sidebar (Side Bar or Event Bar)
The introduction of a vertical sidebar, similar to the one displayed on the right-hand side of the TomTom app, which remains fixed on the screen and indicates the user's proximity to certain points of interest, such as gas stations, repair shops, hotels, and other relevant locations.
- More Detailed and Accurate Road Curvature Representation
Improved navigation visualization, particularly on highways, with more detailed geometric representations of the road and earlier visual indications of upcoming curves. Currently, the route is generally displayed as a straight line, with certain curves only becoming visible when they are particularly sharp. A more detailed representation would help users anticipate road geometry more effectively.
- Improved Positioning of Temporary Alerts Within the Waze Interface
Regarding Waze's existing interface, I would also like to suggest that temporary alerts, such as speed camera notifications and accident reports, should not overlap the Navigation Instruction Banner, which remains fixed in the upper-left portion of the screen.
Instead, these alerts could be displayed directly below the navigation instruction banner. I fully understand the importance of displaying these temporary notifications; however, when they overlap and temporarily obscure the navigation banner, users may lose sight of essential navigation information, even if only for a brief moment.
I believe that positioning these alerts below the navigation banner would help preserve the visibility of essential navigation instructions while allowing users to receive important notifications.

Please increase size of warnings in Android Auto
In my car (Xpeng G9) the Android Auto screen is pretty large.
Please either increase the size of warnings (like speed camera warnings) and speed limit, or let me choose a size (small, medium, large, xlarge).1 vote -
Slow going cars
Hi
I would like to make a suggestion regarding a "mode" to be implemented.
In Sweden we have cars for younger persons (from 15 years old) that aren´t allowed to faster then 30km/h and aren´t allowed to go on the highway/expressway/motorway. It would be nice to be able to choose this mode and the route is excluding the highways (I know you can choose that) and that the remaining time to destination is calculated with the 30km/h speed limit and the route should probably choose the shortest route per default.
Im available for questions if you would need more information or anything regarding this.

On land rover cars, when waze is shown on the digital dashboard, it is always in dark mode
On land rover cars, when waze is shown on the digital dashboard it is always in dark mode. However, the infotainment center console screen automatically switches between light and dark mode. Can you please fix this bug so that the digital dashboard map also syncs the light/dark mode automatically instead of always being in dark mode.

Faith based buddies
Need to have an option to choose a fath based side kick, maybe gives daily Scriptures, can have one for all religions if necessary. I think this would be an awesome addition. Maybe have angles to be an option as a wayzer?

Sugestión to add a flood avoidance feature
I would like to suggest adding a feature that allows drivers to avoid flood-prone area, especially during the rainy season
It would be helpful if Waze could identify streets and areas that are prone to flooding and automatically suggest alternative routes to help drivers avoid accidents, delays and vehicle damage

Music controls not visible while horizontal on IPhone pro
While the device is horizontal. You can select to open Music, the pause and skip track controls are hidden below the menu not not usable. This needs to be fixed

Quick Map Theme Toggle in Android Auto
Hello Waze Team,
I would like to suggest a small but very useful improvement to Waze when used with Android Auto.
Would it be possible to add a simple on-screen button that allows users to quickly switch between the light and dark map themes directly on the car's display?
Currently, changing the map appearance is not as convenient as it could be. A quick toggle would be especially useful in situations where the automatic day/night mode does not match the driver's preference or current lighting conditions.
Ideally, this option would be accessible directly from the navigation screen, without having to open settings or disconnect Android Auto.
I believe this would improve usability and provide drivers with greater flexibility while keeping the interaction simple and safe.

Ability to report ALPR and flock cameras
The only current ability to report a camera is the police cameras. Please add a separate icon or ability to report these cameras.
Side note for those of you who are adamant that these don’t result in speeding tickets… they don’t until they do… do you really trust the entity behind them?1 vote -
Improve voice distance alerts
I've been using Waze for at least tour years now, and I've really enjoyed the app, its features, and all the improvements and updates it has received over the years. I appreciate the work that goes into making Waze such a useful navigation tool, and I have just one feature request that I think would make it even better.
Would it be possible to add a customizable distance setting for spoken alerts about reported items along the route?
For example, when someone reports police ahead, I believe the voice alert currently happens at roughly half a mile away. I would love the option to customize how far in advance these alerts are announced, ideally with a selectable range from 0.5 miles up to 2 miles, including the option to receive alerts 1 mile in advance.
This would be especially helpful when driving at highway speeds, as having more advance notice of reported police, hazards, stopped vehicles, or other road conditions would give drivers more time to react safely and adjust their driving accordingly.

Audio alerts for pedestrian crossings
I live in Germany, and as a new Waze user, I really appreciate the app's real-time alerts. One feature I would love to see is an audio alert for upcoming pedestrian crossings (e.g., "Pedestrian crossing ahead in 100 meters"). To be clear, this would just be a static alert for the presence of a marked crossing-not real-time data on whether pedestrians are currently crossing. Mapping zebra crossings and pedestrian paths into the database should be thus feasible, and it would add tremendous safety value for drivers and pedestrians. Thank you for considering this!

Average speed zone end alert is gone
Please put back the "you left the measured zone" alert, when you leave average speed zone. Ideally also put back the progress bar, which was on the left and disappeared recently too. I don't care, how long the average speed zone is, but I want to know, when I leave the zone. Thanks.

Make Waze share drive work again
Shared Drive no longer works reliably on Samsung Galaxy S23
I am in Australia and have regularly used Waze's Share Drive feature to follow my daughter's journey home. Until recently, it worked perfectly, displaying her live position on a road map and her estimated arrival time.
Recently, I started receiving this message when clicking her shared-drive link:
"This drive is not available. You can't view this drive."
I already had Waze installed on my Samsung Galaxy S23. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, created an account, and tried her link again. It worked initially, displaying her live position and arrival time as usual, but approximately five minutes later the same error returned.
I have now spent more than two hours trying to resolve this problem without success.
I have also found reports from other users experiencing similar problems with shared drives.
Has Waze changed how this feature works, or is there a technical fault affecting shared drives? I would appreciate a response from Waze explaining what is happening and how it can be fixed.

BMW i5 move screen buttons. Safety first!
I want all buttons in android auto screen to be placed on the left side for easier access (search, alternative roads and sound setting).
Alsoe the speed gauge and report button. Why have it in the right lower corner, so far away from the road as possible?!
The gauge for estimated time arrival could be in the upper screen edge instead.
The only thing i´m satisfied with are the driving direction in upper left corner.

What I miss is destination address. I often find myself wondering: "Did I actually tap the right address on the toushscreen with my finger"

Less chatty fixes
The Less Chatty setting is great but needs a bug fix. Currently, at a half-mile before a turn Waze says "turn right/left". This is confusing because it implies that the turn is immediate. It should instead say " turn right/left in a half-mile" or " turn right/left ahead".

Filter police alerts by direction of travel and separate lane sets
Please add an option to filter police alerts by the driver's direction of travel and the separate roadway or lane set they are using.
Police alerts keep appearing for locations that are not relevant to my route, such as police on the opposite side of a divided highway, in the local lanes while I am in the express lanes on the Turnpike, or in a separate truck/car lane set. These alerts are not useful when the police are on a physically separate roadway.
I would like an option to hide these irrelevant alerts while keeping police alerts for my direction and roadway. Reports should distinguish the direction and separate lane set so the filter can work correctly.
