Great news! The Waze Beacons Program is in the works and constantly expanding.
The Waze Beacons Program is the first scalable, affordable solution in the world to power navigation in tunnels. Currently available in select tunnels throughout Pittsburgh, Haifa, Israel, Paris and Rio de Janeiro – seamless navigation is available to Wazers underground simply by turning on Bluetooth functionality.weedriver supported this idea ·

Picture it as if you where hitchhiking:-) You enter your destination, then your request will be relayed to Wazers that are travelling along your route and could take you closer to your destination. If they choose to pickup people (in their settings) they get a message and may choose to accept the request. They can choose to give a free ride or that they want to share costs. The hitchhiker's location is then sent as a stopover location (along with a drop-off point where their routes fork).
So what could be the incentive for picking up random people?
- Collect extra points
- Saving our environment
- Share gasoline
- Be able to use the commuter lane
- Make new friends and be the hero of the day:-)
- ...and many many more. What could be an incentive, too?
Consider an API not only as a one-way data provider. Why not allow others to CONTRIBUTE to WAZE, like GPS tracks (e.g. from TOMTOM), gas prices, map updates and many more.
Of cource you will somehow have to make sure input data is valid and trusted.
