Waze API
Unsure in which forum this falls, but the idea is to have an API which developers could use to use Waze information on their websites or apps.

API yes but - especially to enable other platforms to push hazards/events. Instead of dangerously fumbling with the screen you could develop a BT companion with 5 buttons. OK, harzard of shoulder, police, ... and you just need to press 1 button to report ....

This would be a great way to be able to integrate Waze into bots. I would not need the graphical pieces, just the underlying data of the time it would take.

I think this is the idead that we also would like. to be clear, we would like the navigation to be displayed within another app part. So that the api is usable to include the screen in a (smaller) part of another app.

would like to run probability statistics on how often police shows up at a particular location based on record data exposed as API

it should be better than the MapQuest API / dev platform

Consider an API not only as a one-way data provider. Why not allow others to CONTRIBUTE to WAZE, like GPS tracks (e.g. from TOMTOM), gas prices, map updates and many more.
Of cource you will somehow have to make sure input data is valid and trusted. -

I would love an API. Mainly so I could get my trips data out and see what info I could determine from it. For example, I'd love to be able to collate all my commutes to work and find out the average time, etc.

Technical docs describing HOW (and examples in popular languages) to communicate with Waze would be ideal.
The iPhone source code is a start, but doesn't include the web service URLs, the WSDL(if applicable) or detailed description of the JSON (or other) messages (if applicable), etc.
I can think of things to use the API for and would LOVE to be able to integrate with WAZE as an actual, participating, client.
